If I had to sit through a Harry Potter, I'd personally throw a refrigerator off the roof too.

Am I the only one scrolling along, sees the "Banned" below someone's name and then instantly clicks to see their post history to find out what the offense was?

Usually the offending post is long gone. Nice to get the heads up to see what someone did before hand!

Anyway - I'm almost done reviewing all the official video nasties for the Video Nasty Project, and next up I wanted to cover the movies that ran afoul of the British censors that didn't wind up on any list. Stuff like Clockwork Orange (where Kubrick withdrew the film from release because of the trouble the film was causing) or The Best Little *****house in Texas (which got caught up in the police raids solely because of the title) or Child's Play 3 (because of the James Bulger murder - an exceptionally depressing event, if you ever care to read up on it).

So I picked up the UK release of Scum, from Indicator. I know nothing about it other than the trailer looks fascinating, the BBC neutered the original TV movie (which is why the producers said "Screw you" and remade it for theatrical release) and Mary Whitehouse hated the movie with a passion.

If Mary hated it, it's good enough for me!

Any of you guys seen it (or the original BBC version?)

I've only seen the "remake" version of Scum. It's absolutely fantastic ! Makes a very good pairing with something like Short Eyes or Made In Britain.

I couldn't find a trailer for Short Eyes, but the clip I did find (where the guard confronts the guy who I presume to be the main character) is goddamned chilling! The trailer I found for Made In Britain looks really good too!

Goddamnit! Why do I find out about these movies AFTER Black Friday!

They're both magnificent films in my humble opinion. Tim Roth gives one of my favorite performances he's ever given in MIB. He's in top form and Alan Clarke really gets him to go for it the entire time.

Speaking of Clarke, I'm pretty keen to check this out some time:

No worries, Doc. I just got into it with some dummy over in the Beastmaster 4K thread. Nothing too wild or salacious this time.

Prolific illustrator Richard Corben passed away at 80 after heart surgery complications.

A long time contributor to Heavy Metal magazine and multiple comic book companies as both a cover artist & interior artist.

He’s probably most famous for the cover to Meat Loaf’s Bat out of Hell album.

His artwork was also on the movie posters for Spookies, Phantom of the Paradise, and the Heavy Metal movie.

As a wise man once said, "you can't fix stupid". Thanks for chiming in and it seems like others are trying to reason with these people but hey, it is what it is. No skin off my back in this or any case where people don't understand what's going on and will just complain no matter how it goes down.

At least I'm not a shill.

Damn, looks like Short Eyes is sold out everywhere except Amazon. I hate giving a trillionare my money, but the odds of Ronin or Diabolik getting more are slim to none. Although I guess I should be grateful that even Amazon has some left - looks like Scorpion only did a print run of 1,500 eight years ago. There's probably not all that many left in the wild.

I might have to wait on MIB - the only blu I can find is a four pack from the UK for 50 quid, so a touch out of the budget for the moment.

Absolutely ! This thread is like my "comfy couch" of the forums. No drama, no quibbling, and everyone seems to "get it" when we're chatting. I love that !

Yeah, that Scorpion blu stuck around for a long time too as I remember it however I'd rather give a billionar 25$ than some rando 80$, haha.

If you don't want to buy the 4-pack blu for MIB there's a DVD from Blue Underground that should tide you over until a decently priced HD version becomes available:

Goddamnit! I had some "Oh, I'd like to get these, but I don't quite have enough for free shipping" discs from their sale in my cart that I was probably going to pass on. That was enough to put me over the top!

You guys are killing my wallet here! (The upside is that Killdozer awaits!!!)

Coolness - I bet Scarecrow Video has copies for rent. I'll grab one next time I'm through there and keep an eye out for a Blu version in the meantime.

Yeah, mine was the full price of 17 bucks - and I could have waited until the next sale see if the disc came around, but seven bucks one way or ther other ain't really gonna break the bank. This many years on now Short Eyes probably still be around next sale, but why roll the dice like that?

Ha! When A Tortured Duckling and I were thinking of what we wanted to call this thread... my initial/original thought was "42nd Street Forever" - but I wasn't super keen on it because that's also the name of the trailer anthologies that Synapse did (and I didn't want this thread to be tied to any label/boutique/specific release/etc.)

So, Torch kind of punched it up with "42nd Street Fever" - it was a very quick decision born out of necessity.

But now I'm thinking... wouldn't it have been great if we had called it "The 42nd Street Comfy Couch".
