My first 4K, 3D combo. Too bad they don’t always come that way, I have only 5 and double dipping can get expensive.

Just got good deals on Tangled, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and Lego Movie. It seems Tangled unanimously is voted great and I thought I would take a chance with the other two.

I personally didn't care for Tangled much, but wife enjoyed it. It wasn't too long after watching Moana which I loved, so that could be part of it. The 3d in Tangled is pretty good though.

SUPER 3D, audio was great too what little there was but I bought this after watching Cameron last week on the definitive program on the Titanic, not sure what channel.

This deserves 5 thumbs up, it was that good!!!

GHOST OF THE ABYSS

Just ordered James Cameron's DEEP SEA CHALLENGE.

Would of liked to have picked up Ghosts of the abyss John but sadly it’s very expensive to get to the UK.

Love Star Trek into Darkness! The scene where they zip across space between the two ships is just brilliant.

Just watched Disney's A Christmas Carol on our projector. Beautiful 3D, and a fantastic picture! Pictorially, it's a delight to watch. But every time I see it I can't help but wonder, what were they thinking? I love Dickens' story and have collected many movie and TV versions of it, but this one makes me scratch my head. It's much too frightening and serious for young children, but includes kiddy-oriented scenes that really damage the film for adults. So who was it made for?

While much of it is excellent and a faithful retelling of the novel, you have to endure bits like Scrooge shrinking and being menaced by a rat, sliding through a drain-pipe like a water-slide and "surfing" on an ice-cicle - often ruining an excellent scene that preceded it. For example, Scrooge's break-up with Belle is excellent - poignant and beautifully acted - until it ends with him clutching the spirit's rocket-propelled cap and flying around the moon, wiping out all the emotion and the message of the scene.

Those moments (and some other way-overdone ones) nearly kill what in many ways is a first-rate adaptation of the book. The best parts definitely get an "A" from me, but the film ends up being about a C+ or B- over-all.

However, there's no denying it's eye-candy, and a must have for 3D fans. On that level, it's a solid home-run, and the main reason I return to it over the years. I found myself saying "wow" repeatedly as my wife and I watched it.

Great points! I've had this on the shelf for 7 years and last night was the first watch. My son's English homework was to watch the movie and take a test on it. I was delighted that he actually wanted to watch a movie with me for one (without bribes or threats lol). Of course I insisted on the 3D version!
Great pop-outs, average to good depth, good 5.1 surround sound, colors pop. Your review on target audience is spot on. I kept reminding myself that they wanted Jim Carey for a reason. His career at the time was 95% comedy.

Valerian 1000

This movie becomes so much more enjoyable as the 3D is incredible.

I have a spare copy of 'Ghosts of the Abyss' left. I had to buy it two times, because the first one had no DVD included, just the Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D in a two-disc keepcase. And because I want it complete, I bought it a second time (with the DVD included).

If you want the copy (without the DVD), then you can have it, write me a PM.

I watched Jivaro in 3D today and it’s the best 3D film I’ve ever seen. Lots of stuff gets thrown at the screen and the 3D really pops. Better 3D than I’ve seen in most modern 3D films

How is the 3D ?, I’ve had it on the shelf a long time still in its wrapper.
