More music video anthologies is mine. Shame it was so short-lived. Possibly because most of the classics are in standard definition. Well, Youtube was probably a bigger factor. DVDs sound and look so much better than SD YT videos, though.

I would love to get Demonlover on Blu-ray. Such a weird movie. Given the aforementioned new page on Janus Film's website, in addition to the fact that Criterion has released several Assayas films before, I'm anticipating a Blu-ray release now.

Side note: I was doing last-minute Christmas shopping today and went into Barnes & Noble to buy a book for my sister-in-law. I was surprised to see that B&N (at least my location) was doing 30% off all Blu-rays through December 24—I popped in and grabbed Blow-Up and The Lure while I was there, which ended up costing $25 a piece with my membership. Not too bad of a deal, especially if you missed out on anything from the Criterion sale last month; not quite as good as 50% off, but much better than their typical running price of $39.99.

I have the Criterion DVD, which I bought years ago when it was still on the shelves from a Barnes & Noble. I rewatched it recently, and the quality is still pretty good. That being said, I obviously would love an HD upgrade for. It deserves it.

Does Criterion sale replacement cases + artwork? I need a new case for my copy of The Darjeeling Limited. I would just buy a replacement case elsewhere but the back is stickered to the case. I don't want to throw it out. Anyone know what I can do?

Yes, they sell replacement cases, artwork, booklets, etc. It believe it is $5 per item. You should send them an email. It might take a while to get it fulfilled though because their staff are mostly working from home at the moment.

HBO Orders A24 Limited Series IRMA VEP Starring Alicia Vikander

Oscar(R) Winning Actress Is Set To Executive Produce

HBO has greenlit IRMA VEP, a limited series written and directed by Olivier Assayas and starring and executive produced by Alicia Vikander, it was announced today by Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming. Loosely based on Assayas' 1996 feature film of the same name, A24 is producing the limited series along with Kevin Turen and Sam Levinson.

"When the opportunity arose to partner with Alicia and Olivier we jumped at the chance," said Orsi. "Olivier is a master at weaving unique narratives imbued with levity and drama and Alicia is one of the most versatile, celebrated actors of our time. They have an undeniable, distinct vision for the reimagining of Olivier's cult classic film, and we can't wait to tell it with them."

"I have been a long-time admirer of Olivier and his work," said Vikander. "I am very excited for us to work together, and to be a part of the expanded universe of his superb cult classic, 'Irma Vep.' There are a lot of brilliant people coming together and I am delighted to be partnering with HBO and A24 on this special project."

IRMA VEP will revolve around "Mira" (Vikander) an American movie star disillusioned by her career and a recent breakup, who comes to France to star as "Irma Vep" in a remake of the French silent film classic, "Les Vampires." Set against the backdrop of a lurid crime thriller, Mira struggles as the distinctions between herself and the character she plays begin to blur and merge. IRMA VEP reveals to us the uncertain ground that lies at the border of fiction and reality, artifice and authenticity, art and life.

The series continues the partnership between HBO and A24, whose recent collaborations include the Emmy(R)-winning series "Euphoria" starring Zendaya.

IRMA VEP will debut on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max.

IRMA VEP is executive produced by Olivier Assayas, Alicia Vikander, Sylvie Barthet, Sam Levinson, Ashley Levinson, Kevin Turen through LITTLE LAMB, and Stuart Manashil.
