Default Lawrence of Arabia is on the way - Rumour

You heard it here first! In the long opening shot at the beginning of the film with the well, there will be much press about a correction to an error seen in the DVD version. I haven't dug mine out yet, it may be a week before I get to it. Take my word for it, Lawrence is on the way, it just isn't announced yet. I even know where the restoration is in progress at. To be released just before Christmas with new extras IF it says on schedule I'm told.

This isn't anything official. We have known for a while now that it was coming, it was mentioned in both insider threads months ago.

he spoke like an insider. So if it's not any form of confirmation then there was no need to post.

I believe the same people that restored A Passage to India did the work for LOA. Nothing to worry about.

Last year a store in the Gateshead Metrocentre (UK) was showing a Sony demo disc with various clips. Lawrence of Arabia was one of them and it looked stunning. The scene was where Lawrence and the Arabs attacked the Turkish Train.

If this is what we are to get, then we won't be disappointed.

... and it's about bl***y time too!!!

I was hoping for something sooner, but if I have to wait until the winter I'll wait until the winter.

If you do have connections, please make sure Sony gets Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif to record a commentary or some nice long interviews!

Default Lawrens will come....because it is his pleasure.

Although not an official announcement, this post has made my day/month by re-whetting my appetite for all things 'Lawrence'. 'LoA' has got to be the most anticipated hidef title from the golden age EVER! This BD release will be an 'event' on the order of 'Blade Runner'....although younger forum members here are pining more for the 'Star Wars' & 'LotR' franchises.

I am only 25, but I love this movie and I am greatly looking forward to it. I wish I could have seen it on a big 70mm screen, but the BD is as good as I will get, I suppose.

You get a great story along with some of the best cinematography and score that I've seen in any movie, period. If it looks as good as Passage to India (which was another excellent movie) I will be very happy. Let's hope it isn't DNR'd to death ala Patton.

I had waited until my 30's to see this film because I always wanted to see it for the first time in a theater. Finally I gave in and watched a friend's DVD on his 25" t.v...

Less than a month later I learned a 70mm festival had been booked into my theater and LOA was one of the titles I was going to show! Since then I've taken every opportunity to watch this film in 70mm - the last time was an 8 hour drive to L.A.

For home viewing the Superbit DVD has had to tide me over - it's way better than it's standard DVD counterpart (it's even a little more sharp than the last 35mm print of LOA I projected). I can not wait for LOA on Blu!!!

But seriously kids, if you ever get the chance to watch a 70mm print of Lawrence of Arabia - do not even hesitate. Go see (and hear) it!

Done in the days when no CGI and with huge sets and setup. This movie with all of it's exterior shots should look amazing on BD.
