I have a 55" which is the perfect size for the wall it has to be on. I've got my recliner about 8 or so feet away from it. One or two more would be better but I gotta work with the space I've got in the studio.

- 53-inch Sony @ living room ~ at least 6-ft. distance
- 40-inch Vizio @ bedroom ~ 5-ft. distance

Btw, I just got my first 4K tv (Vizio).

46" Sony Bravia. 10(ish) ft away. Lights out. Blacked out windows. Did all the picture settings and calibrations myself with some instructions for a few of the more complicated aspects.

I need to look up the exact model of TV because I bought that sucker in 2011 and have a top of the line Panasonic 4K player (dp-ub820 I think) hooked up to it and it STILL looks amazing to me.

I'm not sure if I just got lucky or if the home theater gods chose to smile upon me that day but it's EASILY the best TV I've ever owned. I watched The Phantom Menace 4K on it and, despite that disc apparently being one of the lesser Star Wars 4Ks, I thought it was jaw dropping. It finally had that super colorful crispness that Revenge of the Sith has. I haven't watched the Revenge of the Sith 4K yet. I was just using it as an example because that's the one Star Wars movie, pre-Disney, that has ALWAYS looked the best. I'm sure there's HDTVs out there that would grind mine into dust...just sayin...I continue to be surprised at just how well it still holds its own. My next one will be a Sony for sure.

Also....HI! I'm a new poster.

My head is about 100 inches from my 65 inch TV, or 8.3 feet. I can't bring it closer or farther away in this bedroom setup, but I like it.

When I finally upgrade to an OLED, I originally thought that a 65” with a viewing distance of about 9.5’ would be ideal, but now I’m thinking a 77” might be better. Any thoughts guys?

65” and 9’ away. Perfect for TV shows but movies with black bars makes me wish I had a 75-85”

Based on people’s answers it clearly differs quite a lot ! I think at the end of the day it depends on A) The shape of your room and B) How comfortable you feel at that distance

Me personally, I have a converted garage so it’s quite a long room so with my 65” TV I’m approximately 12-13 feet away when fully lounging on my sofa. I’ve never felt too far away, I suppose I could be slightly closer but when immersed in a good film, it’s perfectly fine.

9.2 feet from a 65", but I'm going to swap the 65" for a 83" in a month.

60", 8.5 feet away.

In the future I hope to upgrade to a 77" and sit around 6' away.

75" at 4ft seated, 5ft reclined.
My field of view approximates my favorite seating position at an IMAX theater.
