Default Universal Remote control for PS3?

Is there a Universal remote that works on all...including the PS3 (blu-ray)?

You'll have to get an IR receiver that is compatible for your PS3. I use a Phillips Pronto but I hear the Logitech Harmony is a rockin device and a steal at the price.

PS3 uses bluetooth and doesn't have a built in IR port, so you'd either have to find a hybrid remote that has bluetooth and IR, or find an IR adapter (usb or otherwise) that works with the PS3.

Found this at amazon.com. It should be able to teach the Logitech Harmony the IR codes. Looks like a good deal at $20.

The one that doesn't do RF. ummm, sec.

Harmony® 670 Advanced Universal Remote - if you want a text display

Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote if you have a wife that can't read and wants pretty pictures.

There's a website I use for remote control info and it's godly. www.remotecentral.com. TONS of colaboration and codes and graphics. Good luck.

Sony PS3 remote doesn't do Infrared and I don't know of a universal remote that will work with bluetooth for device control. I reckon if there was one it's be out of any reasonable man's price-range. Do some research on that remotecentral website I linked above and see how others have done their programing of a universal remote for the PS3. I suggested that one off amazon because it's an easy way to teach the Logitech the codes.

Oh, return the PS3 remote if you still can. You can't teach a universal remote a thing with that Sony item.

I can't find a remote that does bluetooth at any price. Sony PS3 is purely custom. The only way I've done it and seen it done is with a 3rd party IR receiver that will use a USB port. The link to amazon in one of my previous posts is a good example that I know works with the PS3. Remotecentral.com is full of posts where people have tried and failed (not tried and died) with other products. $20 is a pretty decent deal for that item. Heck, it's cheaper than the off the shelf PS3 BD/DVD remote.

Thanks Red. I missed your post or I woulda just linked to it. Is HT a brand? I have a friend('s wife) looking for a universal remote to reduce clutter and to prevent marriage counseling. I recommended the Logitech but the price was a bit of a shock (to her) so I'm looking for tested alternatives.

I'm not familiar with the PS3 remote, but I can access the top menu, pop-up (I assume you mean the OSD that has all the functions), the disc menu overlay while watching a movie (not sure what it's called), display, etc. Basically everything you can do with the controller is there, except for power up since there's no power to the USB port when the PS3 is off.

By "HT remote" I meant my universal remote for my home theater. Sorry - that was misleading, wasn't it? I just edited the post to clarify that.
