Getting rid of refurbished product only means they are trying to capture some profit from electronics that have been returned....nothing more, nothing less. What would you expect them to do with it?

I have no idea if Pioneer is going out of business or continuing to produce their current product line or new products...

That being said, selling refurbished units is not a sign one can draw any conclusions from.

But, the real question is are they producing a new UHD player or at least continuing to produce anything from their current line?

BTW, does this player give audio at 1.5 playback speed like the Panasonic (for Blu Ray at least), and my old ps3? I find that useful for skimming extras.

Certified Refurbished means that the company refurbishes the products and puts them through a multi-point inspection process. The factory is involved in this process. This is a step closer to full production.

Think about the word factory (for consumer electronics). They’re all in Asia.
These items were NOT shipped to Asia and back to be refurbished.

Some 3rd party company runs some checks here in NA and replaces defective parts. If you get the chance to buy an independent warranty on these items, you should take it.

No kidding, so that's what refurbished means.

It’s now 2021. Let’s hope that new year = new player. The A-10AE Integrated Direct Energy Amplifier is now officially available again.

Had a interesting conversation with someone over at pioneer Australia (distribution partner) was able to verify the info from U.K. also

Lx500 is discontinued in USA, but will be reissued in spring 2021 in eu and Asia
Not sure if there will be any amendments to spec

I’m in the U.S. in case you haven’t figured it out by now. Besides, why would everyone else get something except for us, especially something we had before? The article about Pioneer moving their U.S. distribution to Klipsch clearly mentioned “disc players.” They probably only said it was discontinued because of what the website suggested. They only go by what their computer program says. They don’t have access to the plans of the real Pioneer company in Japan. They are only responsible for service and marketing. I know because when I called customer service in the U.S., they said they didn’t have access to Pioneer’s plans, and I heard them typing on their computer keyboard to look up the UDP-LX500 on their system.

UPDATE: It looks like Pioneer has all but, albeit quietly, exited the disc player market. I have owned the Panasonic for a while now, and if you do want a machine with all these features there is the MAGNETAR.

I liked it better when you were just leaving your comments to a "hope" vs all the conjecture in this post. I thought you had turned a corner vs becoming the P-Anon conspiratorial member.

I’d imagine the difference is I know people in the av industry and you don’t ? That’s probably why I can get the info ?

If you need it I can forward you several correspondence with pioneer USA confirming discontinuing the model in the America’s

IMO if Pioneer does release another 4K player(remain to be seen), I think they will just re-introduce the LX500. In our current physical media climate, it's not a priority for companies to still be releasing new models. I can see where some people remain optimistic about it but we really need to be realistic.

That will change when there are no dedicated, high end flagship players left in production.

Then it will be "why didn't I get the __________ when It was still available?".

BM falls into the trap we all do sometimes, we "want" something, so we only look for "signs" (in this case there are no facts) that support our position.

Like his question about Home Alone being out of print because Amazon didn't have any copies (besides the secondary market). When someone pointed out the other retailers that were carrying the less than 45 day old title, he scoffed and said that information didn't mean anything.

See how that works?

So you do all this inane pontificating about 4K and HDR and this and that and whatever else some ****tard on YouTube tells you, yet you don't even have a 4K setup of any description. Jesus funking Christ.
