I am on season 6 and now that the dragons are big I do notice an uptick in detail on them that is worth the purchase for me.

I do think that season 6 is when the 4K really kicks in.

For anyone who owns this set, or individual seasons on 4k...
Do only some of the seasons have Mandarin/Chinese subtitles, or do all of them?
The site page for this set only lists Mandarin/Chinese subtitles for seasons 2, 3 and 8, which seems really strange. I'm not sure if that's accurate or not. Can anyone check before I buy the set? I will only purchase if ALL seasons have them, so my girlfriend can understand what's going on.

Just finished watching the whole set. The show was more enjoyable the second time around and I don't feel the hate for the last season as when I watched it the first time through HBO on cable. There were a lot of clues in the early seasons as to what will actually happen in the last season. Fast-travelings were still annoying in the last two seasons though.

One drawback is the CGIs and green-screen sequences were more obvious in high bitrate 4K HDR/Dolby Vision.

One of the best TV series that I have ever watched.

Agreed all around. In terms of fast travels, The Khaleesi coming to the rescue beyond the wall made no sense. How fast could the raven even get to her for her to know? I am sure dragons can fly faster than ravens. They were sloppy big time with things like that towards the end. Still an amazing show but I am hoping HBO will do a movie in a few years like they often do

I noticed this same problem when watching LOTR in 4k.
I don't remember the CGI and green-screen being so obvious in 1080p.

I've heard some say the opposite. That the visual effects are blended in better. But maybe that's just an effect of DNR.

Not only that. Robert's envoy took months on the King's Road to travel from Winterfell to King's Landing in the first season. But it took Daenarys' army only a "forthnight" in the final season. SMH.

That last one is definitely annoying, I hate having to memorize where I left off during movies and TV episodes.

The Dothraki hardly ever stop moving. They've been shown willing to sleep on their horse. That's not the case for Robert's envoy. They've been show to stop quite often, and I bet Robert stopped often on his way home.

Or, possibly, they took a ship, which would cut down on travel time.

A fortnight is way too fast either way, but they easily could've moved faster than Robert's envoy.

Do people start episodes without intending to finishing them in one sitting? Like start an episode, then decide to turn it off halfway through?

Keep asking myself. So far I've always watched a full disc, three episodes at a time.

I’ve been going through 3 episodes at a time myself lol. I’m midway through season 3, the resolution after season 1 is definitely a subtler improvement, but I’ve seen these enough I keep appreciating the HDR in all scenes. Contrast and shadows are much improved, the way light reflects off armor. Awesomeness!

Release of the year for me.

right? They establish so many times how vast the north is(bigger than the other 6 kingdoms combined)

Not me. I don't start an EP unless I intend on finishing it. I shoot for 2 EPs a sitting, but if it's getting late, I will sometimes only commit to a single EP. And I always finish them.
