Can't put the Genie back in that bottle. At least not fully.

and besides, you guys keep moving the goalposts. I was responding to someone asking if max was worth it, which it is because there's 1-2 new movies a month I'm interested in.

For those that have Netflix UHD:

Last night @ 1900 hours played Test Patterns S1, E1 on the Sony UBP-X1000 and it showed 3840 x 2160 but the bit rate (in kbps) just showed null. It has been showing null for some time now. Using the Info screen it showed the bit rate as 1.5 Mbps. The Netflix Network Test showed 73 Mbps. The X1000 ethernet port is limited to 100Base-T. It is racked mounted recessed so I can not test using 5 gig wireless.

Next I did the same test using the Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 and it too showed only 1.5 Mbps. The Netflix Network Test showed 208 Mbps. The Shield has a 1000Base-T ethernet port.

I would not be surprised if Netflix removed the test patterns. Vudu removed the quality indicator from the Sony app, still there on the Shield app, will have to see if it is on the Roku and Fire TV apps.

Have you found a way to select different audio options on Max? If true, how and what device(s) are you using for access. I for one do not like their app.

The PS5 should be compared to other complete computers instead of steaming devices.

It's a full computer system. Not a dongle.

I seriously thought about the Panny but have my eye on new projectors that do DTM.

May procure the soon to be released Tascam BD-MP4K as it requires only 1 (1.75") rack space making a easy install.

The problem: transferring videos online is data-intensive. In 2018, online video traffic was responsible for more than 300 million tons of CO2, equivalent to what a country the size of Spain releases in a year — for all sectors combined. The higher a video's resolution, the more data that's required. Ten hours of high-definition film consumes more bits and bytes than all the English-language articles in Wikipedia put together, according to The Shift Project.

It is generally the poor quality that keeps me from Steaming most of the time but I can be happy I am doing good for the world in general by continuing to collect movies on disc.
We better dump online video gaming as its carbon footprint must be substantial also. Let's make 56K modems mandatory for all consumers and thereby limit all bandwidth consumption!

The answer is to use more clean renewable energy. People are not willingly going to change how they use the internet; they're going to keep on streaming and they are going to keep on gaming.

I used to use a friends HBO account and noticed they tend to have a lot of things I tend to buy ... so, like the Disney+ its one of the services I would maybe use if I didn't tend to collect movies.

I am thankful Game of Thrones and Stranger Things are available as UHD purchases and I can't bring myself to use my friends Netflix account to watch Cobra Kai so I will see if that's available on disc as well. (I think it is.)
Cobra Kai is available region B, no idea if it’s locked or not. It’s well worth buying if it is region free. Really enjoyable stuff, even though I was sceptical at first. Can’t believe how good it is actually.

There is no genie. Film lovers love the cinema experience.

Video gaming is mega. GTA 5 was the best selling media of ALL time on release. Like you say, these mega Corps need to act fast.

On that note, saw the above. What the heck are you meant to do when the remote dies after two years?

Seriously things are designed to live through the warranty period these days.

Three years is a good run for anything.

You buy new remote for $100 or more, of course.

That’s what I was thinking, what a con. So you are forced to not use regular batteries and asked to fork out extra every two years. Absolute joke.

Never had a tv that didn’t last at least 7-8 years. Still the case.

I never had a TV more than 2 years, with the exception of my Kuro plasmas (4 years) and OLED (3 years thus far and counting).

Anybody interested in watching Samsung’s full announcement video:

I never had many TVs

Since getting started with projectors in 1999 I’ve replaced or upgraded at about three years each time.

My current Pj seems ready but I’m waiting I guess for ones I’m interested in to come down. Projectors get better and cheaper fast the way computers do.

High end gamer console, not to be compared to a real PC game computer.
