Think about it.
I think I bought 10 new UHD movies yesterday. If I didn't have to have internet that could have been 11.

(None of them were $30 though... the XMen beginnings box set was $36 but has 3 films)

I believe I will have the Apple Glasses as soon as I possibly can so hopefully I'll tell you how awesome they are.

I love VR and I love Apple.

I have the PSVR but after getting the Oculus Go I never used my PSVR ever again. The PSVR has so many wires they attach numbered stickers them to help sort it out while the Oculus Go can be used completely wirelessly.

I used to argue with a good friend about Apple because I thought they were only over priced and other wise useless. But, ... Now I really enjoy just about everything they make.

I have to think that headphones and VR would result in less energy use than everyone having a 85" TV and 11 speaker setup all for watching alone.

-Brian

Ps - I also want the Apple car if it's worth wanting when the time comes.

It wouldn’t be VR, it would be AR. Smart glasses if you will. Apple have already decided that VR will be a side project for them and AR will be the real deal.

The theory (shared by Facebook AR development team) is that you won’t need any screens because the glasses will project a screen, anywhere in the room. Watching a film? Project a 80 inch screen on your wall.
Using the computer? Project two 42 inch screens side by side. Waiting for social media posts or email? Project a small notification screen in the corner of your vision.

It’s been suggested that tv growth will end when the glasses are introduced to the mainstream. Not sure how family night will work, I’m guessing all glasses wearers will be able to sync to the same (locked in position) screen.

My issue with all this would be reflections. My glasses are bad enough now without several high contrast holograms sharing my specs.

By the way, as a gamer PSVR is another level to Oculus ago. Much more capable even with wires. The wires are not even that big a deal on version 2

The problem with your statement is that it infers that you are incapable of thinking beyond your personal, societally insignificant wants as opposed to the greater good and related needs.

Have you ever asked yourself why some US citizens are without access to fast, reliable and affordable internet access?

Thought so.

At this point, your posts represent nothing more than the clutching of straws against a simple truth.

In the not too distant future, thanks to improved internet speeds and content codecs, UHD quality content will be streamed day and date for new studio releases.

Ha ha ha, that's right, that future is already here.

As predicted.

In the not too distant future, for everyone, thanks to fast, reliable and affordable internet access without data caps.
Worlds greatest country? Did you type that with a straight face?

I think I have version 2 of the PSVR .... I don't know, I will check. Nope I have the old one... I don't know anything about the refresh.

The PSVR has nicer (OLED) screen but in lower Res.

The wireless aspect though makes the biggest possible difference. If you haven't used a recent Oculus then I understand if you don't agree with that.

I can put the oculus on and play but the PSVR requires managing a lot of wires which you have to be careful with even when you can't see them.

Both are good kits, I haven't thrown out or sold either one. (I may be looking to give away my Oculus though because in 2 years it requires Facebook and I won't even make a dummy account on FB. The plan is to get the Apple Glass and find a FB user to give my Oculus. )

I'm not even going to mention how amazing adult content is with VR/AR.

You know what the most amazing thing is ... I'm getting to the age of NEEDING glasses to read some things. Good timing.

Silent Madness 3-D review at High-Def Digest

Silent Madness 3-D from Vinegar Syndrom is region free Blu-ray’s with a Anaglyph 3-D disc included. Anaglyph does not require 3-D player or display, colored glasses are included. The best 3-D will be via included frame packed Blu-ray which requires 3-D player, display and glasses.

Have added to my to order list.

Watched it twice already. The 3D is stellar. It’s more subtle than F13 3D. There are pop outs but they are brief for the majority of the time. It’s depth where this one really stands out. Many great shots with fantastic separation.

Basically, 3D is the only way to watch.

The V2 headset is more straightforward. I disconnect the headset after every session and pit it back on it’s stand.

I have sadly encountered a major issue with mine in the form of reflections. I wear glasses and I seem to be the only person having this issue (ghosting of high contrast objects on screen).

If I can’t sort it out, I may have to forget about VR which would be devastating.

oh.

I don't know what that is but sorry to hear that. I hope someone makes a compatible VR headset for ya.

I haven't used either of my VR setups in a while..... Sort of on a New Year, New Focus thing and have been focused on other stuff for a while.

One thing I have been doing is auditing my media and I discovered I have more Disney UHD than any other studio (61 Titles)

It’s inflammation of the eyelids. I need to bathe my eyes with warm water twice a day every day and clean my eye lids with warm cotton buds 3 times a day. It’s a lifetime condition in my case.

If one looks at the Sony Bravia Core site there is not a single mention of "UHD Blu-ray disc quality". The only mention of audio is it has DTS audio and nothing else.

Some here keep posting references to new video codecs. The only news seems to be "same video quality at ½ the data rate". I can see it now, “Mr. Jones you need this new $2000 TV because it has a new video codec that will have the same or maybe slightly less video quality than your old TV but it will allow video streamers to save a lot of money”.

@ gotmule

Last night watched UHD BD of Red Sparrow and was struck by how much better the dynamics were for the orchestral music used for the opening ballet dancing than the John Williams: Live In Vienna disc.

Netflix Says 2021 Slate Will Bring "A New Movie Every Week" - Hollywood Reporter 1/12/2021

Quote:
Netflix has announced the titles that will be premiering on the streaming service in 2021 and is promising "a new movie every week."

The features include the Zack Snyder-directed Army of the Dead, Jennifer Lawrence starrer Don't Look Up, musical Tick, Tick... Boom! and Dwayne Johnson action movie Red Notice, among others.

The list also comprises acquisitions like Halle Berry's directorial debut Bruised and Malcolm & Marie, and is expected to grow as the streamer acquires finished films out of festivals and elsewhere.

Netflix's current 2021 originals slate is comprised of 70 titles — including one trilogy, with the R.L. Stine adaption Fear Street — 52 of which are English language live-action, eight of which are animated and 10 of which are non-English language films.
List of films.

Well HBO Max you started it with talking up 17 movies.

Only against their special of the month. What about all their other content from HBO, TCM, and Warner/DC? Has anything been upgraded? Is GoT streaming as 4K? How about an upgrade of The Pacific and Band of Brothers?

This barrage of movies is part of that fight piracy by making all movies suck program.

I could not agree with you more! This is one of those Atmos mixes that blew me away with how they are able to convey a sense of space. Every channel worked together perfectly without any real "Hey! Notice me" sort of moments within the mix. The dynamics were there in a subtle fashion, and you were there at the ballet. Great call!

March 2005, really. Didn't at all work, and there are plenty of recent movies that suck too. Got a better joke?

Quote:
A guy sits down in a movie theater and notices that the man in front of him has brought his dog and it's sitting in the seat next to him.

He thinks it's unusual, but he likes dogs so he decides that as long as it's not a distraction he won't mention it.

The movie starts and pretty soon there's a funny part. The dog makes some low woofing sounds that seem like laughter. In a little while there's a sad part and the dog appears to be weeping. This continues throughout the film and the man sitting behind the dog is astounded.

When the lights come up he taps the dog's owner on the shoulder and tells him, "I gotta say, and I know it sounds weird, but it seemed like your dog really enjoyed this movie."

The dog owner looks at the dog and nods. "I know, it really is weird," he says, "because he absolutely hated the book."
