Default Digital Bits rumor mill 27 April: Lots of Paramount/Warner titles

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/rumormill.html

Quote:
Our industry sources have informed us that Braveheart is due to arrive on Blu-ray Disc on 8/11 from Paramount. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Brugundy, Gladiator and Galaxy Quest are all tentatively planned for Blu-ray release in September, followed by South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut likely in October and Forrest Gump in November. And with a little luck, a Star Trek: Next Generation Motion Picture Collection will arrive sometime before the end of the year (likely around the same time as J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek and Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 2 & 3), containing Star Trek: Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection and Star Trek: Nemesis.

Also today, sources are telling us to expect Warner to release New Line's Rush Hour on Blu-ray on 7/7, followed by Rush Hour 2 in early August. Also tentatively due in August are Chuck: Season 2, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Season 2 and Fringe: Season 1. Additional catalog titles we've been told to expect on Blu-ray before the end of the year from Warner and New Line include Nightmare on Elm Street, Snakes on a Plane, Sphere, Gremlins, Magnolia, Heat, Boogie Nights, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Logan's Run, The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, The Green Mile, North by Northwest and more (all TBA).

As always, all of the above information is to be consider unofficial and subject to change until the studios in question make official announcements. Stay tuned.

Those are some good releases from Paramount. Sadly though, Stardust is still not one of them - perhaps it's been delayed forever

Lot's of goodies coming our way, if this is true.

If Star Trek (TOS) season 2 & 3 are as good as season 1, I'll definitely be picking them up. I also hope the Star Trek Next Generation movies are good releases (good PQ/AQ and director cuts where available). Then I'll pick those up for sure as well.

Braveheart, Rush Hour 1 & 2, Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles season 2 and Gladiator are also on my 'to buy' list, provided they are quality releases of course.

Looking forward to Braveheart in August and Forrest Gump in November. On the Warner side looking forward to NORTH BY NORTHWEST. Amazingly those other titles don't interest me.

Wow lots of good titles there.

Definitely picking up Boogie Nights, South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, Gladiator.

Also might get Anchorman and Rush Hour 1 & 2 depending on my cash flow

LOL!

Just curious Scooby - what did you think of The Island? I had such a hard time enjoying this film because I love Logan's Run so much and felt they stole so much from the movie.

And yeah, heard a remake was in the works - at one time Bryan Singer (Superman Returns, X-Men 1 & 2) was attached to direct. Not sure what's going on w/ it now (I should check IMDB). I really, really hope they do a good remake.

If you think The Island stole a lot from Logan's Run, you should see Parts: The Clonus Horror. The Island is basically a big budget remake of that one, only they never gave credit to it. Big time ripoff.

On second thought, don't see Parts: The Clonus Horror. It's beyond awful. There is an MST3K version though. That's the only way it's watchable, IMO.

Yeah, I heard about Parts: The Clonus Horror - I guess I should check it out. It's just that I've always like Logan's.

So you say Parts: The Clonus Horror is more a remake of The Island or Logan's Run?

Wow, a whole bunch of titles there that I'll pick up provided they have solid transfers and lossless audio.

I just hope the older titles like Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind are offered in normal packaging.

I completely agree with you. However, if they are not, I will still pick these up.

Gladiator, Heat and Braveheart for me. I might also consider The Wizard of Oz if it is stellar.

I think that is it.
