First two episodes were OK, but when people start comparing this stuff to Lynch, even if it's in influence alone, it really makes me wonder how much exposure people have to 'weird' content both in and outside the realm of movie-making.

While this may seem "different" for Marvel -- and not something they can market to a theatrical audience due to its deliberate slow-burn pacing, as well as an aesthetic choice that's different from its theatrical style -- this is still very much typically Marvel. They're not exactly swinging for the fences here. It's still 'simple' -- and we all know it'll eventually transition into its more traditionally glossy Marvel action sequences based solely on the vignettes that shift to color/widescreen.

By no means is it bad, or even a criticism. I've come to enjoy Marvel for what they do, which is the simple blockbuster filmmaking method that retains its simple style for each property they put out so they can tie in to one another rather seamlessly. But this is not 'different' by a metric of comparing it to blockbuster films that really attempt to elevate themselves beyond the popcorn element.

Very much intrigued by the setup here, though -- and am looking forward to seeing how the payoff plays out.

Besides, this is Marvel. I don’t think they’ll be losing any viewers soon.
The difference is those shows had plots that were actually moving week to week. I felt like over 40 minutes there was zero progression on the show apart from a few brief moments telling us things weren't normal. That is my concern. If they didn't dedicate entire episodes to sitcom plots that will likely feel meaningless when the season ends, I wouldn't have these concerns. If other people don't feel that way that's great and I agree most people like myself have faith in Marvel, which is why I'm not quitting the show.

Not really sure what is going on here, first few shows had a couple of good laughs but with the very little context its confusing what's happening. Hopefully this gets better as things progress. Only thing I can guess at this point is maybe this was her reality while trapped in the soul world?

Yeah, the first two episodes are definitely excellent. Zany and charming and downright enjoyable from start to finish. At this point I don't even care about what is "really" going on. Kathryn Hahn is a real standout and perfectly casted.

Not sure if this comment was directed at me or not since I am the first one that brought up Lynch, but if it was, yes I am very familiar with experimental, genre and surreal cinema. If you need specific examples, I mean
[Show spoiler]the first two episodes felt very much like Twin Peaks to me, specifically Season 3 with Coop trapped in Dougie’s body while the audience wonders when he (in this case SW) will snap out of it, all while being controlled/influenced by others who are external (Evil Coop, citizens of the Red Room and lodges, Etc).

I agree with you though that this may “seem different for Marvel” which is cool and good and all but as someone who just does not expose themselves to comic book/mainstream franchises, this approach to storytelling is not new and they (Marvel) aren’t doing anything different with the tools they have. They are simply using the devices to fit their desired narrative.

If they don't release a steelbook with this artwork i will riot

I rather have a Mando 4k steelbook first then this series.

The outlook doesn't look well if Season 2 has already been completed yet we still don't have a season 1 disc release. I read that Disney is trying to move away from that media.

Same symbol can be seen during the ending credits on one screen and notepad.

Looks like
[Show spoiler]S.W.O.R.D. is "editing" the episodes. Or maybe, some S.W.O.R.D. agent is just trying to reach out to Wanda - remember the male voice that can be heard saying "Wanda, Wanda who is doing this to you?"

I loved the first two episodes. Genuinely funny and Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany are slaying it. I love these two. Kathryn Hahn is hamming it up in the best way and I cannot wait to see how she develops over the course of the next seven episodes. And this makes me even more excited for the next Spider-Man and Doctor Strange where Wanda will play a significant role in each as they will be dealing with the ramifications and fallout from this series. Bring it on MARVEL! Bring it on!

True Detective Season 1 is the big one. But like people have mentioned, there’s been quite a few over the years (Mike Flanagan with Haunting of Hill House is another one). It’s arguable, but it seems to lead towards a more consistent series.

I concur. The people complaining that nothing is happening are making me laugh. Enjoy the journey, not everything needs to be about getting immediate answers. I think they've done a great job in these first two episodes of paying homage to the time periods, while maintaining a level of uneasiness. Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen are knockout actors so I'm glad they're getting a series to show that off.

[Show spoiler]The voice belongs to Agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) from Ant-man and The Wasp. Which adds a new connection to the MCU and to the storytelling of Phase 4.

Remember when Martin Scorsese said that Marvel films weren't true films. While these two episodes weren't perfect by any means (which I don't want to judge too much due to the fact we have two pieces of an eight piece picture), they definitely impressed me to the point where I think this is a step in the right direction, like they can be more daring with their D+ productions. This is one of the few times where a cliffhanger has actually left me excited for the next part, the only other Marvel production to do that for me was Infinity War.

I absolutely loved the first two episodes, I don’t even care very much where it’s leading yet, I’m just enjoying the wonderfully observed postmodern / pastiche elements that feel like they’ve been done with a genuine affection for a slightly nostalgic view of television, even as it plays off the tension that it’s all some kind of manufactured reality, itself inside the manufactured reality of the MCU (and on a further meta-level delivered via streaming, the new medium of television for the 21st century). Can’t wait to see the next episode, presumably “IN COLOR!”
Marvel-lous.
