Braveheart coming on 8/11 and Gladiator in September. That should eliminate half the questions!

You're really going to post that info here without citing a source?

FYI, Warner has also officially announced the DVD and Blu-ray release of New Line's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Film Collection on 8/4. The set will include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time and TMNT, along with a comic book, a sketch signed by co-creator Peter Laird, a beanie hat, 8 character cards and more. We'll post additional information as it comes in.
The first three films better have some decent extras as well.
At least some deleted scenes and audio commentaries.

If this date holds, I will be celebrating on 8/11 with a nice glass of Macallan 18 (1984) paired with a wonderfully complex cuban Saint Luis Rey Double Corona (2004) cigar.

18? nice.. I've only had that when up at a casino. The 12yr is my go-to. I will most certainly be joining you if the date holds. One many of us have been waiting for something concrete.

Hey Bill and Jeff

With the recent rumour mill announcement of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy coming this fall (hopefully) what do you think the likelihood of it being released with Wake Up Ron Burgundy as an special feature or extra disc? It would be a shame to not put this out on blu ray as well... It would be even more of a shame to expect a double dip.

Thanks

Great Rumor Mill this morning guys!!! I am planning to get most if not all of those.

Question though: Any word from WB if they will release Wizard of Oz as a standard disc? I much rather get just the disc but I'm not going to hold off just because it isn't released that way.

The 18 and the 12 taste to similar to justify the cost, I actually prefer the 12. Now, the 25 is where it's at!

Wizard of Oz,GWTW, Casablanca, etc, WB seems to be trying something different to offset the unfortunate low sales volume. By offering high-srp collector's sets they generate additional income that help justify the cost of producing the discs at a faster pace and sooner

If you love classics, you need to push your friends to buy them, HARD. The sales numbers just aren't there to justify it.

I would pay the same price they're asking for a standard case. I don't want these odd-shaped things that won't fit on my shelf and are three times as large as they need to be, at any price.

Well, there's no guarantee that there isn't a standard case hiding inside that box either, at least when it comes to the new titles

That'd be nice. I wish it were *ahem*... the case... for Casablanca.

How much does that collector crap cost them to produce?

It wouldn't be so bad if they included a standard blu-ray
case and cover in the box. Then the rest could go to
the landfill. And I thought "green" was the In thing.

I'm not going to push anyone or buy a cheesy box as a gift
either. I don't know anyone that displays plastic figurines
on their fireplace mantel. It might look nice in a doublewide
trailer though. In short, it cheapens classics. On top of
that I have to pay 9% sales tax on crap.

Hell, I had to buy Casablanca on HD DVD just to send in
the cover art to get a normal blu-ray case in the WB
Red2Blu promotion. Ugh, my only HD DVD purchase.

WB has no problem providing a standard edition of Casablanca to our friends outside the U.S. What gives?

I'm tired of waiting for a shelf-friendly, reasonably priced Blu-ray of Casablanca. Time to import.

(BTW, DigitalFreakNYC is organizing a group buy from Amazon.fr in the Hot Deals - Region B forum.)

Yes, I've been doing that to avoid those damn Digibooks

It is much easier and cheaper to take advantage of the WB
Red2Blu.
