With Pioneer releasing 3 new Elite model receivers in 2021 they may get back into 4k uhd players at some point but that's just speculation. I hope they do but there is zero noise about it.

Oddly enough, Pioneer Australia have updated their page and are showing stock of the 500 and 800 due March.

https://www.pioneeraudio.com.au/coll...lu-ray-players

So possibly not dead yet.

A new model would be very doubtful though.

This would be the very first global confirmation the company has plans to continue the player so that is good news.

He had the same observation months ago. Besides that is just a Australian distributor, not Pioneer. If he doesn't live there he shouldn't get his hopes up.

See this post from October.

The current model is still an amazing player (it just needs the HDR10+ update), but I would prefer if they released a new model with HDMI 2.1 and a Wi-Fi module with a rear antenna like the other "P" company's high-end machine. However, the UDP-LX500 is not listed at all on the U.S. site, and the "Blu-ray Disc" section on the top of the page is gone, probably temporarily, because if you scroll all the way to the bottom, the "Blu-ray Disc" section is still there but is blank. Interestingly, I have an account for the site and the UDP-LX500 is still on my wait list, but if I click on it, it boots me back to the home page.
Nothing has changed at all. This is not news.

The real Pioneer company has got to be telling the distributor this stuff. Maybe Pioneer took it off the U.S. site because when they do start making it again, they will have updated information like HDR10+, not the information that was there before. The website still has provisioning for Blu-ray players. But hey, that’s just a theory. A home theater theory.

Also, what was Navster if you are remembering it with all your heart and dedicating every one of your posts to it?
Navster was a forum member here who passed away several years ago, he was a good guy one of the few on here I would have actually considered a friend

You can see from his profile he was well liked and is greatly missed.

Look at https://www.voxxintl.com/consumer/ (Klipsch owner)
Go to the bottom click on the Pioneer icon, takes you to the Pioneer USA URL. If it not listed its not available. They haven't updated it for new AVRs I see.

If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the Pioneer U.S. site, you’ll notice there is still provisioning for Blu-ray Disc players. If they were done with players, they probably would have gotten rid of that provisioning. As for the VSX-LXxx5 receivers, I honestly don’t know why those aren’t listed. Also, notice how the receivers and the player are designed to match and are both called LX-something. The door marked "ELITE" that flips down to reveal more buttons on the LX505, SC-LX704 and LX904 is the same shape as the front of the disc tray of the UDP-LXxx0 players, which is also marked "ELITE." The LXxx5 has retained the same design theme from the LXxx4 from what I can tell. The PQLS system on Pioneer’s flagship receivers can only be used with a Pioneer player. I wouldn’t expect a company, especially one like Pioneer, to discontinue a piece of equipment designed to go along with another. That would be almost like a home appliance manufacturer discontinuing tumble dryers but still making washing machines, or vice versa.

Well, I wrote to the real Pioneer company in Japan, but instead, the American customer service answered (the people I talked to who said it was discontinued.) I wrote to global-support@jp.onkyo.com and instead the email somehow transferred to service@11tradingcompany.com (again, the American customer service who doesn’t know Pioneer’s plans.) Keep in mind this was in response to a version I sent on Friday that didn’t have the Japanese text.

You wouldn't have believed anything that they said unless you liked what they said, anyways.

If the LX 500/800 returns the irony will be that they will still lack HDR10+ support and thus you won't buy one. You will be waiting for a "perfect" 4K disc player forever while doing without any player in the meantime.

I would expect the company to remember HDR10+ should they bring the machine back.

I just tried it again, but this time I sent them only the Japanese text. I never got a response to the email that had both the English text and the Japanese text.

I don't think that you will ever buy a 4K disc player because it will always lack something that you will insist that it have. You are holding your breath for the return of a 4K disc player that never offered everything that you wanted in the first place believing that Pioneer will now add HDR+ support just for you if and when their players do return to the market.

Keeping their players Dolby Vision-only would make them a significantly harder sell compared to the other "P" company's player, especially for those who own a display like mine or one of Robert Zohn's imported ones. HDTVTest didn't do his review of the machine until three months after he got it. He uses HDR10+ and Dolby Vision all the time and was waiting and waiting for it to happen for that reason. And, in case you were wondering, just like HDTVTest, I frequently buy my groceries from ALDI, and yes, as I get to the front of the checkout line, they'll often open another register right next to me.
I don't put much stock in a promise that some customer service representative told you; they probably just told you what you wanted to hear to get you off the phone.

There are only like 17 4K disc titles that have HDR10+ without also having Dolby Vision, so how is anyone using HDR10+ "all the time?"

I have enjoyed a 4K disc every night for the past two weeks while you're still waiting for a 4K disc player that may never come. You should consider just buying an inexpensive 4K disc player, like the Panasonic 420 or the Sony X800M2, while you're waiting. If your dream machine ever materializes, you could then sell the cheaper player, use it with a bedroom TV, keep it as a back-up player, or give it away as a gift. At least this way you could enjoy 4K discs now; there's a lot to be said for enjoying something in the here and now.
