Default Ridley Scott's ALIEN may get a Prequel

Quote:
Ridley Scott has had an on-again off-again on-again love affair with doing a new “Alien” movie though – and unlike Cameron, never denounced his interest. Fox chairman Tom Rothman tells IESB that the studio is looking at doing a prequel to 1979’s “Alien” – which means no Sigourney Weaver - and Scott could be involved.

"There's been some talk”, says Rothman, speaking at the “X-Men Origins : Wolverine” Premiere in Arizona. “Ridley Scott, Ridley is right now working on Robin Hood, but I think he's toying with the idea and that would be great for us. I mean, it's always been a matter of, really, if you can get the originator to do it that would be the greatest thing, so I've got my fingers crossed, all of them."

I don't think any prequel or sequel can capture the same amount of the magic as the 1st when it came out in 1979, but I do think a prequel helmed by Ridley Scott still has huge potential to be awesome. Thoughts?

I LOVE THE IDEA!

I'm assuming we'd find out what the deal was with that deralict ship on LV-426, which has always captivated me.

And yes, they still need to make and Alien 5 as well.

I think that HR Giger piece is called "alien Pilot".

edit: it's called both, also just known as "the pilot"

I remember it being huge in the movie compared to the humans so maybe it can be a giant race of humanoids like the Zentradi from Macross/Robotech.

It was meant to be massive. They actually used 3 children in the space suits for the distand shots. Made the set look bigger too.

2 of his and someone elses, don't remember who.

You've watched the bonus features of the quad I guess!

Ya, conditions were brutal, everyone was droppin like flies. The original actor to play Dallas also left the movie due to being diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes!

Not completely out of the realm of possibility for them to make that the primary theme of a prequel.

Possibly, but I think we'll need Humans to get us there.

I can't imagine a movie that's all Aliens, although I pay to see it!

a movie featuring all aliens would be awesome..should the inner workings of the colony, show how a hive mind works with subtle grades of rank and social class. show how advanced they truly are without adding humanistic emotions like "jealousy" or "compassion". do it with no dialogue, make it cold and stark.

it could be brilliant...

but the general moronic masses wouldn't "get it" and would need some shia ledouche-ish character running around acting like an ass so they can swallow their popcorn at a faster rate and studios wouldn't back it.

the only humans, if any, we need in a movie featuring aliens are the ones getting slaughtered as cattle. the Alien is the main character.

Imagine an Alien cat fight. Some dude steps on some other dudes toes at the office, or sleeps his wife. Bam, tails knifing into each other...inner jaws shooting out. Acid all over the place. Interesting...

I've always wondered about this as well. As I understand, that ship was still there in the end of the second movie. They only blew up the colonial compound, but not the ship. It's definitely a loose end they could do something with. Hopefully it would be something worthwhile.
