Our resort has everything we could ever want, so why would we even want to leave the resort?
Especially since most of the all inclusives in Jamaica and the Bahamas offer private beaches. That's my main concern with Mexican area's is that the beaches are not private.

I still need to apply for my passport though. That's my first priority.

Finally decided. Going to the RIU all inclusive in Ocho Rios Jamaica. Upgraded to the jr. suite and the price still came in at under 2k for everything.

So excited!

Me and my wife did the cruise thing for our honeymoon back in 97.Two of the stops was Cozumel and Ochos Rios.We both like Conzumel, very nice place good food and nice culture. For Ochos Rios once you left the gated compound where we came to port its was a different story alot of people asking for money, trying to sell you things and ganja for sale all around.I don't know what it's like right now.
We also did Barbados...very nice place, people were nice they didn't rush to sell you things and they have a good rum cake. I would say Barbados or the US Virgin Islands.

Well, we have some time to fully plan it but for the price we found I think it's a great deal. Under 2k for flight plus stay in a jr. suite.

I wanted to do the Couples resort but that's about 2-3 hundred more.

Sept. is the off season for Jamaica so the whole trip is pretty cheap.

In my opinion the Sandals resort was nice because it was couples only. It was amazingly quiet without kids. The only time it wasn't quiet was when a guys vs girls couples beer pong match broke out one night. There were a lot of honeymooners there from the east coast.

I think there were 5 restaurants on the property. The food was great (and free of course), as were the drinks. The swim up bars at the pools were nice too. The resort also had a small private island that you took a boat to.

The only "activity" we really did was we went snorkling twice. I swam up to some bottom feeder sharks both times.

Oh, and dudes selling real cubans on the beach was nice too! Here is me enjoying one, beware of the white chest! https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...00#post1856300

I'm told "Punta Cana" (sorry if that's spelled wrong) is the best "Southern" destination in that area as far as bang-for-your-buck, and just general "quaintness" .... it's in the D-R.

Either way.... I'd go to South America... Chile, Argentina, Brazil, etc. If you go to the "Commercial" islands, you don't benefit from the generous exchange rate

I can only smoke a cigar if I am golfing (which I do once or twice a year) or at a beach or in a spa/pool.

Are we the only members to have posted bare-chested pics here? I think you had one of you swimming at some point.

RIU chains are nice but they are very European and cater more to the European tourist compared to the US tourist.

This coincidentally was the resort chain I used in Punta Cana (Dom. Rep.) where I had the sh*ts all week...We paid $3000 including air from Philly to stay in their top rated resort on the compound - ours was classy but some of the lower rated places were a little more common and felt very "shore-like" (for those that have ever been to the Jersey shore) except no one spoke English.

This was me on one of my moments between bathroom breaks - soaking in the pool or the ocean made me feel better for some reason

I'm sure that there are areas that are OK but the tourist areas were not for me.
My sister and her husband went and stayed at an all inclusive and had zero issues. So I guess YMMV.

I'd rather do Mexico (even with the Flu and Drug Wars) and hit Costa Maya or Cozumel. Or I would do deep Caribbean like Aruba or Curacao.

Aside from the Caymans, the old imperial ruled islands seem to have an issue with those that look like those that ruled them and no use their island for vacation purposes making the tourism industry the only viable income maker for only a handful of the population.

I will say that the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana) would have been perfect if I didn't get the trots from the food in the resort all week...the beach was simply amazing.
As well as the beach in Roatan, Honduras...that was really nice too.
The wife and I did the Dunn's River Falls-which was the ONLY highlight of Ocho Rios. The Caymans were fun-we swam with the stingrays and that was a really neat/interesting experience.
