This looks like it’s probably matte.

...is that typical for Zavvi?

I think you're right. According to steelbook.com it has a "Spot Gloss" finish so I assume the K silhouette will be glossy with the rest matte. There are a few similar examples in the Mondo line like Boondock Saints

All of the Marvel Mondo X SteelBooks are Spot Gloss as well. It doesn't have anything to do with Zavvi.
