Anyone who's interested might want to pick up the UHD of The Great Gatsby.
Amazon just ran a blowout sale for $12.99 last week and doesn't have it in stock anymore. That's sometimes something they do when an item is remaindered and they're trying to clear stock. They also run sales for other random reasons, it's not definitive proof of anything, I'm just trying to be helpful, I already bought a copy. ![]() WBshop.com has it as "Sold Out," which is sometimes a precursor to removing it entirely from their listings. Now, again, both of them might get it in stock again tomorrow, the pandemic is messing with the supply lines a LOT. Best Buy still has it. Before my "fans" start chiming in with complaints, I'm not saying definitively that it's OOP, and it's clearly not OOS everywhere. I'm just saying, if you've been sitting on the fence, as I had been, now could be the time. Worst case, you end up with a UHD of a great film at a reasonable price. ![]() |

I mean with any film that's a matter of opinion, but I really liked it. Vibrant, boldly visualized, some great performances, and highly faithful to the novel, even though it's SUPER stylized.
The fact that Luhrmann and DiCaprio managed to make a film that grossed $350 million, and yet [Show spoiler] , is kind of amazing. ![]() |

The trailer for it didn't grab me, but I've liked all of Luhrmann's previous films, so I'm not sure why I've been hesitating. |

I recommend it. It's imperfect, but it's bold and made with tremendous love for the novel. Luhrmann treats the source material the same way he did Romeo & Juliet and La Boheme on stage, he gives it a modern punk vibe while staying extremely faithful to the literary intent.

Didn't see it in the Alliance section, but the first Black Christmas remake is definitely out of print.

Said it before, but try to get anything now that you might regret later from Kino's While Supplies Last sale. Their titles can be pretty tough to find for a decent price once they're off Kino's site and the msrp copies disappear from Amazon. But for those who aren't as critical with the a/v, their dvds are generally authored from the same master as the blu and contain the same extras; and they tend to be cheaper and stay in stock longer.

For anyone that missed out on VS limited release of Action U.S.A, then you are in luck! MVD Rewind is releasing it on May 11, 2021.

Between this and Rad, Vinegar Syndrome must have some really weird contracts lately. Usually you don't find separate companies re-releasing a title so quickly after a limited edition has sold out from one company.

When MGM had the Fox distribution deal, MGM's licences to labels were also through Fox. When that arrangement ended in June, any transaction deals from and through Fox were set to expire anyway. MGM has Warner as their distribution partner for releasing catalog titles to general retailers like WalMart, Amazon, etc.
Warner aren't involved with MGM's sublicencing, as MGM became the sole licensor to third parties and have allowed new deals plus renewals from the prior Fox transactions. Kino, Arrow, and Shout were able to renew select titles, but the prime reasons why they let so many go OOP were due to extremely poor sales, MGM not allowing renewals of them, or MGM licencing them to another label in a yet announced package deal. |
