I hope the Fox home video infrastructure is still intact under Disney. Can't remember if that was lost after the acquisition. Would trust Fox's UHD track record far more than Disney's.

I'd say now it looks likely Disney will reissue all previous Fox UHDs under re branded 20th CS around when Speed and Heat drop.

Thus it would make sense they still have the infrastructure. All in all this is shaping up to be rather fantastic.

You've got another brand separate from the Disney name, that can act with relative independence on home video should it's numbers remain decent. All they have to do is just get the mouse to sign off on each release.

In other words, 20th CS could potentially become like a Warner Archive.

It's good news for the digital crowd as newer Fox films are getting Dolby Vision and Atmos on streaming platforms but I do hope Disney doesn't dumb down on AV.

Disney shut down the Fox equivalents to whatever Disney had at the time of the acquisition. A few Fox employees transitioned to Disney jobs, but pretty much all of the Fox personnel were let go, when the decision to shutter the Fox divisions that were acquired in the buyout.

On digital, this is a bit too dark and HDR is almost non-existent.
I doubt that the disc will be any different in terms of the HDR grade as the master is done...unless Mann decides to change it again

Heh. The celebrations have started today, but when people realise these are prolly going to be stuffed onto UHD66's with HDR10 only and the audio will be Atmoused then the cheering and whooping will turn into something else entirely.

But, as I just wrote in the Speed thread, this is not this day. Let's just be happy we're getting these at all and then start the technical finger-pointing as and when it's necessary.

How long do you think it will take until we see more "Disney doesn't do physical releases anymore"?

That was never what was being said, not by people with any understanding or insight into the situation anyway, it was that they're not interested in live action catalogue anymore. Though even that understanding/insight has been shown up too!

And this is why I have an issue with Disney

I suppose they have done a few live actions recently like Hocus Pocus, Home Alone.

If they decided to touch the Touchstone titles there’s another Mann they could do, The Insider.

If there was ever a perfect title for a Criterion UHD, it's The Insider. I wish they'd hop on board the format.

I suppose Arrow could do it too in Criterion's absence.
