Some useful information on vaccines that you should be aware of. Talk to your doctor.

Actually, it's not a small number. You are foolish for thinking so. It has been barely a month since it made its first appearance. It's going to kill much more than just 157. A few days ago, it wasn't even 50. That's over a hundred in just a few days. This is a flu that is still in its early stage. So the worst may have yet to come.

Yesterday, a total of 6 cases was reported across Canada, today, the total is 13. So far, no deaths. All of these were people who came back home from Mexico. But I'm not going to say people will not die from it. The flu itself is contagious so it will be passed onto many more people the infected ones come in contact with after leaving Mexico. It's like a chain reaction. Supposedly one infected person comes in contact with 50 people in a day, these 50 people may have contacted the flu. As a result, each of these people may contact 50 more each. So imagine how quick the flu can spread. People never learn these days. It's not the same as car accidents or genocides. The flu itself is nothing to scoff at. Especially when you study the history of how big of a pandemic the flu can be.

People need to brace themselves because the worst may have yet to come.

I disagreed. Teachers should tell the kids what is going on, and HOW to prevent it, and WHAT kids can do etc. The more info you get, the less panic you will have.

This is how misinformation gets started. I am 99.999% sure the teachers were not trying to panic the kids. I am sure they were explaining it and such which is a good thing. Especially after what I have seen lately with people out in public. Coughing, sneezing and all that without ever covering their mouths. Absolutely disgusting. You might as well go over and lick their tongue.

People today have no respect for anyone except themselves and even that is beginning to wane.

Yeah, here in Hong "Commies Infested" Kong, some people are so misinformed, it is pure comedy. I was listening to a talk show on the radio yesterday afternoon... geez, some callers were simply stupid! I remember one woman called and beeyatch'd about how "little" the government had done to prevent this outbreak, and suggested why not stop visitors from N.America from getting into HK. Ha! How about you first take care of your personal hygiene? That might be a start too?

They ALWAYS do. And people are so gullible now days, they will believe anything.

In Bowling for Columbine there was that statistic that said while violent crime had dropped some significant percentage, the reporting of it had increased 600% leading the population to believe we were in a crisis of violence.

It's all about ratings and eyeballs, and journalism is nearly dead and buried. Edward R nailed it 50 years ago.

spot on, the more they cover this, they sensationalise & exxagerate to make it more interesting & use overblown projected figures to further this

let's be honest, in a country of millions, a few hundred deaths like this isn't uncommon & more people die of other things but the only reason you don't hear of a pandemic of people dying like that is cause it doesn't interest even with exxageration

You're right. The end is near. The apocolypse is upon us. Run. Run. Death is at your door. The flu is coming to kill you, just like it kills thousands of people EVERY year. Eeek. Oh no. Panic. Mayhem. This is worse than anything ever. Lock yourself in your room and don't go to work because you may be next.

Two things i know for sure about this outbreak or flu bug.

A) It has driven news outlet ratings as most people have grown tired of the political ball washing they have over done in the last 4 months, prompting most to switch the channel until last week.

And

B) What ever drug company who is making the vaccine is about to increase it's revenue ten fold because of the panic!

Corrected for you.

You are absolutely correct. Mainstream media no longer reports the news, they fabricate things and spin what few facts they actually have to their advantage (whatever that may be). This "soon-to-be-pandemic" is just the latest example. Violence and guns are another hot topic that the media sees fit NOT to report facts. 90% of the guns used in Mexico drug crimes are from the US? That's pretty funny considering the real number is more like 17% max.

But, hey, why let the truth get in the way? After all, a crisis is a terrible thing to waste, and needs to be milked for all its worth. It's amazing how gullible most folks are in this country.

It's amazing how much the media will lie. You cannot die from the flu. You can die from the flu leading to another health problem such as pneumonia or from the flu making other existing health problems worse. But the flu itself can't kill you.

I am not one to believe in this whole "pandemic" thing, however how do you know that a flu can't kill you? Are you in the medical profession (IE a doctor)? Depending on the strain and what it can do, it may kill you. You can't just say a flu can't do that. In theory it SHOULD NOT kill it's host as it would defeat the purpose, but after it's done with you - who knows?

Most flu related deaths are from pneumonia. The disease itself won't kill you. It's not like the bubonic or pneumonic plauge which caused hemorraging and lead directly to death. If you catch a bad case of the flu and it's not treated, then it will lead to another condition which will kill you. The flu itself won't.

One of first threads I started on this message board was about how common courtesy has become uncommon courtesy. It's a sad state of affairs when people don't recognize or care how their own actions can affect others.
