Oh yeah. I personally think the reason cameron films are conspicuously absent in the HD era let alone the UHD era is a deep personal sense of inadequacy. Imagine if you were as director people liked from the sd era, and you look at your catalog, and say compared it to Michael Bay's first movie, just on image quality alone. I'd be depressed, and prefer that my fans went wanting rather than seeing this material in the same level of cleanliness and clarity as Bad Boys.

How many decades has it been since you have seen The Abyss? I'd love a uhd or even a HD transfer of it. But I appreciate that if I got one I'd be wincing as much as I was watching that way terminator 2 uhd...

It just looked a bit firmer than the remastered BD in terms of definition. Otherwise, it did look underwhelming (IMO). Will be interesting to see if they do some tweaks for the physical release.
It's a dark film with a few L.A sun scenes. I'm just hoping the colour is resolved, and there's more image depth.

You got the regular blu already, plenty of other 4K’s put away...I would be smart, I would cut loose of this.

You're fawning over Gattaca, yet dumping on Heat and Speed.

Heat is one my Top 100 movies ever, & I’m a stated fan of Speed too. Dunno where you get your information.

Well what glorious reasoning do you have to reject the UHDs of Speed and Heat, yet are pushing everyone to buy Gattaca?

Well most significantly, Gattaca is a much more visually beautiful movie than either of those two. In Heat’s case, we already have a Director’s Definitive Edition. That probably won’t look as good as the 4K, but it definitely reduces the value IMO. As for Speed, I’m just not convinced we’ll get a tonne more out of the picture quality. Twister would have made more sense.

Disney were going to release Twister on UHD disc .....until Warner & Universal said "What the f*** are you guys doing? That's our movie."

No it's not. This HDR grade looks different to Goodfellas in a strange way. It's kinda hard to describe.. I would call it "hazy" and not always in a good way. If they release it on disc as it looks on stream I think there will be complaints. We will see.

Are you seriously saying Gattaca is more visually artistic than Heat?

And Speed is going to be significantly superior to the HD Blu-ray released 15 year's ago. Perhaps if an HD Blu-ray from a 4K master had been out between that old HD Blu-ray and the forthcoming UHD, you might have a point.

But, as it stands, your contentions to me have more holes than the Iraqi navy.

Is there any evidence this is getting a U.S. release? Everything I've read seems to indicate international.

I think this in Speed are critical to see the direction Disney is going. I did see that perhaps these were done before the Disney rumors though so maybe they are just shoving them out since they were already ready to go.

Ugh...the death rates have been factually declining in places like Florida & such. Actually, the death rates of Covid-19 are skewed & inaccurate as many of the deaths are not from Covid but let’s not get into hospitals & insurance companies making profit & saving money respectively on this virus as that’s a whole other story. The Flu, Pneumonia, Emphysema, & a few other general illnesses have higher death rates then Covid (where’s the panic for those?) but let’s ignore the evidential proof or the fact, the media is playing the general public for all its worth & to benefit their own agenda (oh yes, they definitely have one & it’s blatant).

Okay let’s move on here as this comment board isn’t for this topic.

"Let's move on" after a paragraph of nonsense, lmao.

Anyway -

One of my top 75 movies, excited to see Disney issue some catalog releases from other studios, HYPED to get it in hand!

I love living in Florida and I love Governor DeSantis. I feel free here. The only other state I would consider living in is Texas. I used to live in New Jersey and when I came down to Florida, I never looked back.
