Well, it's official, I absolutely hate either my post office, or random people...
I had two dr appointments today.
I also did grocery shopping.
I come home and I have three letters awaiting me.

Since it's Monday and last Monday I got an email saying to check my debit card, I fixed it, I hadn't gotten any other emails since
So, I log into my account on BullMoose.
Low and behold, it says delivered.

I left them an email.

I'm getting real sick of this shit.
Hell, for all I know, one of the drug dealer's "customers" next door could have seen it dropped off and ran with it.
I'm buying shit in stores only from now on!

I was able to sell my set for double the price I paid for it on ebay and got both of these sets for free and only paid for the steelbook. So for 60$ Canadian, I got all 3 sets and lost the bigger one. I'm mostly sad about the booklet (i love booklets! ) as I was really interested in reading it but I just hate these giant sets, they don't fit with my other Kaiju movies and are big and heavy for no good reasons.
These smaller sets are so beautiful and definitely worth it. Plus, you get the same transfers and extras as the bigger one. Imo, well worth doing it to get these for free.
Plus, since I sold my set, the price has gone even more up on ebay. You could probably buy all 3 of the other sets and still make a profit at this point haha. :P

Why the SteelBook? Does it have different content?

Nah, it's just for silly people like me who like to collect and own multiple versions of the same movies. I don't buy many steelbooks anymore but Arrow's steelbooks releases are gorgeous and really well made. I love that it has the original poster for Guardian of the universe on the front.
And I also like that it doesn't contain Gamera the brave (which I enjoy), seeing as this is simply the Kaneko trilogy (probably my favorite trilogy of all time).
I do wish Arrow had wait a year or two to release the steelbook, like they did with Robocop or American werewolf in London, i'm sure if they had they would have included a smaller version of the booklet from the big set with it, just like they did with the other steelbook. That's what made me double dip for the other movies, since I had missed out on the limited releases. Alas, no booklet this time.

Got my Heisei set today. Amazon actually shipped in a bubble mailer with another blu. It was also slightly open. Thankfully, it was in perfect condition.

For anyone else who got the steelbook:

Do you have any small scratches on the Gamera 1 disc because of the stacked disc holder behind it? Mine look pretty small, but they're noticeable. I"ll try to watch it tonight to see if I suffer any playback issues because of it.

Otherwise, great looking steelbook. I've never seen these films before, looking forward to it.

The two sets arrived for me yesterday. I'll be honest, I often do not notice differences between transfers like others do. I'm just not that into all that. That being said, the original movies are absolutely beautiful. They look like they could have been filmed just a few years ago, and not in the 1960's. I am really impressed.

That Arrow company splash at the start of each disc is obnoxious though. I wonder who approved that.

Now to put on Gamera vs Gyaos, forward to the scene that skipped on my last copy, and finally be done watching this set.

The new packaging looks so much better on the shelf, but I still really like the limited edition and would never part with it.

The steelbook looks incredible, thanks for the pics! I'm so sad I had to sell the limited edition but my wife would have never let me buy all 3 editions. I'll always miss it, sigh.

Also, i'm torn between the original posters or the new Matt Frank covers for the regular sets haha.

I flipped the cover art to the original first thing. The new art is nice, but I like the original

I have the big limited edition but those individual sets really do look fantastic. Shame I’m a sucker for booklets otherwise I would have waited for these smaller sets for sure.

Anyone want to sell/trade the Map from the big set for something?
I'm hoping that these darn things show up soon in the mail.
And according to my neighbor, my whole town is having an issue with both the mail claiming to deliver and with thefts.

I pretty much always flipped the covers for the original posters but I also bought the steelbook which has the original posters, so i'm thinking of keeping the Matt Frank artwork. Also, they didn't put the titles on the original posters, which kind of bugs me. They look less like covers without the titles and more like pieces of art (which is beautiful, mind you). It is nice to be able to see them when I open the cases and remove the discs. So I went for the Matt Frank sides in the end.
I still have the Mill Creek Kaneko trilogy and now these two sets and the steelbook. I unfortunately gave away the shout factory showa dvds to a friend and sold the showa mill creek blu rays. I kind of regret it now. Not that I have the space anymore. :P

Edit: just noticed most of the covers have the Japanese titles afterall, nevermind lol.

I always prefer the original. I still have all the releases of Gamera that have come out on DVD/Blu. I just really can't help myself. Same with Godzilla. I cannot tell you how many times I have bought those movies on VHS, DVD, and Blu. I am trembling in fear for 4k releases of all these

Might be possible to mux the additional audio/subtitle options from the Arrow discs into an MKV with this video. I did basically the same thing with the old BD releases of these restorations back before the Arrow set came out.

The caveat with these releases, though, is that the HDR grading is probably based on/similar to the grading on those old BDs -- specifically the blue/green and orange getting a big push. Arrow color-corrected these transfers to a more neutral look.

How do the Heisei-era films in Volume 2 of this collection compare to the Mill Creek release? I really enjoyed that set, but I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the upgrade. I've never seen the Showa-era Gamera films, though.

Much better transfers, plus additional stuff like the UK GotU dub, G2 redneck dub and G3 commentary that wasn't ported over to the Mill Creek discs. Definitely worth the upgrade.

I would trade the whole big box set packaging for the packaging the sets just released came in. I do not like the big packaging. In fact, I removed the discs from the set and have the box stored away.
