On the basis that neither of us were thrilled at Home Alone on UHD? LOL.

I guess it all depends if they have an agenda to bury the Heat UHD as much as LOTR, because their to much of a cheap b*stard to actually buy something.

Are you going to attribute imaginary quotes to all of them, too?

By the way, I wasn't aware that the Warner and Fox blu-ray releases of "Heat" weren't the same, so I look it up on caps-a-holic. It looks like I'm in the minority here, but the Fox release looks better in my opinion:

https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...=94768&i=8&l=0

Could you guys explain me why you prefer the Warner release? Is it because it is the original theatrical version?
The WB release isn't the original theatrical version either, but it has a more natural color palette. The Fox remaster has a teal/yellow push and a dull, hazy look. The HDR on the UHD streaming version doesn't improve these in my opinion.

Laserdisc is limited and NOT LOSSLESS buddy. Show me you even have both the discs and 5.1 you brag about, with something to watch them all on and I would be shocked with that LOL. You don't , and you're a joke. I'll give you a few days, and then I'm done proving my point. Maybe your troll squad can hook u up LOL! You probably got a LD and some junk. Hilarious. The only way you can get it louder would be with tons of watts and amps, and a huge sub with Laserdisc...who cares you can do the same with the DTS-MA and bigger speakers and amp and sub and it will sounds better. Even if the SUb is of similar quality the Center and surrounds won't be able to match the DTS_MA of the disc. .1 LOL. The DTS-MA is the best out of all discs currently available for the complete 5.1 package. Clutch onto your Laserdiscs bro enjoy the .1 fidelity that's not better because its LOSSLESS at best it could be similar. Peace. I do appreciate your group trolling me. Thanks for that.
Had it years ago... The Dolby Digital LFE channel blew away every subsequent mix because it didn’t have to be compromised to be backward compatible with stereo systems.

Bollocks it does. The mix on the Fox disc is hotter, i.e. superficially louder but actually has slightly less dynamic range than the Warners disc. The AC3 Laserdisc beats them both of coursh.

Heat is my favorite movie of alltime. I know some of the original crew members who worked on the film. I spoke to one of them who is friends with Michael Mann. He said that Mann wasnt even aware of the upcoming bluray release on disk. Mann was heavily involved in the digital 4k release a few years ago. He said they are probably just going to release the existing digital 4k.

But the Warners disc is far more warmer and golden looking than the tealy green Fox, hence my confoosion.

Both of them look cooler (blue) on an LG OLED. I never noticed any intrusive green push on the Fox disc.

I dare say neither of them look blue apart from the obvious Mann Moments™, what you watch on is irrelevant for judging colour if it's not been objectively calibrated...though clearly my memory of the warmer tones has done a switcheroo, so...

I said never noticed. And that's even before I messed with forcing wide gamut.

Which I think has nothing to do with the movie looking like it does on the Fox BD. It's more pleasurable to your eyes, but that look is not a mistake. I like the occasional boosted gamut too when the content is mastered so dully that forcing 2020 on it doesn't turn everyone into a ruddy-faced monster, but I don't believe it's actually what it's meant to look like. And if forcing WCG doesn't make the already-green street scenes in Heat look like they've been dunked in a vat of Mountain Dew then something's badly off with your 'calibration'.

As disappointing as that sounds, I am going all in on this and Heat, merely to help show Disney the interest in these releases.

Very much looking forward to this. Not a huge fan of the Fox BD on my last viewing and then I started wishing I hadn't sold the Warner disc. lol Hopefully the UHD BD, overall, excels.

I rewatched the iTunes 4k HDR stream and yes it's not the most impressive catalog release purely in terms of the usual PQ indicators such as contrast and sharpness, but then Heat has never been that kind of movie. When I was watching it all I kept thinking was....this is the best this movie has looked and is a faithful transfer e.g no obvious DNR or other digital tools. Perhaps the colour timing could be better ....I don't know as I can't say I know what the theatrical look was/should be of a 25+ year old movie.

I think with the improvements to grain reproduction/compression, then the disk should be a no brainer...

You'll be the first to know once I can get a professional calibrator through my door.

Hopefully my new 2020 CX should be here soon. Better believe I got that sucker calibrated.

Just in time to revisit these upcoming releases.
