The Tale of Laughing in the Dark messed me up. That's the one where a lad steals the nose from a clown mannequin in a ghost house at a fun fair. The clown was a criminal that hid in there once and burned that place down with a dropped cigar.
Then later when the kids alone he gets phone calls croaking at him to "give it back", his microwave explodes in cigar smoke (I think there's cigars in a pan at some point), smoke comes from under his bedroom door and a balloon with "give it back" written on it inflates itself from under the doorway. It's all implied stuff but it haunted me for a while. The Ghastly Grinner stuck with me because rictus grins have always unsettled me. Also this: ![]() Weirdly I don't actually have coulrophobia at all, but these two are both "clown" orientated. Last edited by Guy87; 02-16-2021 at 01:01 PM. |
