I hate it when there is a trilogy (or in Harry Potter's case, 8) of movies that go together but only some of them are in 3D. As a completionist and a collector I have to get all of them but hate not having the entire set in 3D. I usually end up getting the rest of them in 4K assuming they are available in that format. That's the next best thing to 3D (although not nearly as good).

I’m cheap and just get the Blu-ray version, but feel the same way.

Finally popped in Gemini man. A few minutes in my wife mutters, "why is this in 3D?". The 3D isn't bad, in fact it helps with the horrible CGI as much as possible, but the scenes rarely get enhanced by it. One of the few 3D titles to go in my give away pile. I remember thinking at one pint I would rather be watching Cease Fire, it was that bad.

At one pint? That’s very early in a drinking session for such a decision!

Seriously though, I thought Gemini Man is considered one of the best recent 3D films? Some on here voted it as the best 3D of last year.

I thought, for the most part, Gemini Man's 3D was fairly natural looking. (And I don't really mean that as a compliment.) I did think there were a few bits of really nice 3D here and there but, like real life 3D, it wasn't much to get excited about most of the time. Coming from the guy who did Hugo and TS Spivet, I thought the 3D was disappointing.

It's possible I'm being harsh on it as I still haven't got over - and never will - the artless pantomime banality of its High Frame Rate.

No, seriously, only one pint. I wouldn't have wasted another of the good stuff on it

IMO, Mockingjay Part 1's 3D is a much better-detailed 3D conversion than "HP Deathly Hallows 1 3D".
Mockingjay Part 2's 3D does have overall, better 3D quality than Mockingjay Part 1.

Picked up 6 disc collection of hunger games on Blu-ray so I would have them all. Believe it or not I have never seen any of them, so I’ll watch in order. The first Mockingjay in 3D seems to be a challenge to find at a good price.

Default Tin Tin

Just finally watched "Tin Tin". A couple of points not covered by others:

I liked the fact that Snowy the dog was not anthropomorphized as is usually done in Disney type movies for animals and inanimate objects (example: the carpet in the live action "Aladdin"). While Snowy showed us a lot of action, feelings, and emotions, they were all doggy like.

Not sure if I like motion capture. While it gives the opportunity to make some impossible stunt work available through the use of CG, the chase scene being a good example, it also makes those kinds of scenes a lot less credible. But then CG's physical excess and resultant lack of credulity is always a problem for me. I do like action, but it needs to be believable for me. Just don't exceed a film's starting "suspension of disbelief".

All in all, I enjoyed the film and the 3D was an added bonus. I'd give a B- or C+.

Sorry Tintin had some issues for you. Havent seen it in a few years so will have to rewatch it...

Last night Asterix Mansions of the Gods with kids. Really enjoyed it a lot. Funny, good visual detail, 3D added good depth and layering. Grass looked very real during some shots. Plus, a non-threatening way to introduce the kids to the magic of the Gladiator Arena before moving on to Spartacus, Thor Ragnarok, and of course Gladiator. Just kidding.. or am I...

Crying shame the other 3D ones arent English friendly...

Hi Philsfan,

Like the old Looney Tunes, bet many a joke primed more for adults went over the head of your kids. I thought Mansions of the Gods was so funny and the 3D so good. Like you I'm very upset that all the other 3D entries do not have English even in subtitles.

Watched "I, Frankenstein":

Visually it was pretty and the 3D was OK but a bit weak. Enjoyed the acting work of Aaron Eckhart and Bill Nighy with some bits of decent drama, but it was all engulfed in a lot of supernatural hokum. Overall I'd give it a D+. Maybe a C- to be generous.

P.S. Don't fret, Bob; I saved the best for last!

Just bought a couple 3D titles!

Also I just purchased a BenQ HT2050A (and some DGD5 glasses) and really looking forward to getting back into 3D! It's been probably a year since I last watched a 3D movie in its entirety. Can't wait to see Hugo on the big screen!

After all the good reviews I was quite disappointed with top gun. I also have a 2050A... you’ll love it.

If Frankenstein is a D+ then Silent Hill is a F-.

I really liked Frankenstein. I thought Silent Hill was terrible, but the 3D was passable. I waited the whole movie for the nurses cover scene, what a disappointment. What did you like about it? The plot and the acting stunk.

Hi okie

I really enjoyed I Frankenstein and thought the 3D was very good. The story was clever. I think the disc overall is underrated
