It makes sense, though. They need to establish mutants in the MCU before the X-Men are officially formed.

Why call the MCU X-men reboot "the Mutants"? why not just call the first movie "The Uncanny X-Men, the second movie "The Astonishing X-Men", and the third movie "The Extraordinary X-Men"?
