I want to see the Sterling Hayden doc... I think he seemed like a fairly fascinating person and I really liked him as an actor.

I really don't like the idea of watching B&W films in color. Especially if I haven't ever seen them before. I want my first experience with a film to be what was intended.

Back in the 80s, Turner colorized a whole bunch of classic movies - Casablanca, The Asphalt Jungle, Treasure Island, Key Largo, King Kong, The Maltese Falcon, Out of the Past, The Postman Always Rings Twice ... and more.

They were on TV all the time. I wasn't a big fan, but it was the way things were.

It's too bad he didn't enjoy making movies, but he was good regardless of his reasons for doing them.

Just picked up AJ and watched all the supplements first before watching the movie again. This is an excellent Criterion title and the supplements are excellent. The Sterling Hayden Doc The Pharos of Chaos was really fascinating, at times very insightful and deep, at times, disturbing and sad. He was a unique and complex man that seemed to live life entirely on his own terms, except the doc does kind of expose a very conflicted and deeply troubled person that that point in his life. Anyone on the fence about picking this title up it's a must have IMO.

Saw this for the first time last night and I was really impressed. Great video, audio directing, acting and I love Sterling Hayden. My favorite film noir so far. Highly recommended.

Watched this today for the first time and man what a movie. Really felt for the characters despite the fact that they were all criminals.

Yeah, the ones I've seen so far, I've really enjoyed. Thinking of watching Crossfire next. Any good suggestions?

It was the first noir I ever saw thanks to an episode of Siskel and Ebert that pointed out a reference to this in Pulp Fiction, and it was coincidentally the first Criterion I ever bought on blu.

I have a feeling you will absolutely LOVE this movie, Duke. It's my personal favorite Noir of all time and easily rests in my all time Top 10. And Tarantino wasn't the only well known director to borrow from this. You should recognize the scenes when you see them

You don't need it, but here's more effusive support for Kiss Me Deadly; Ralph Meeker is in such his element here, I wish he did more noir. The bookends to this movie...the Nat King Cole opener and the finale, are just priceless noir artifacts.

Not going to rattle off all of the names of the usual suspects people will recommend, but a classic noir that more fans need to see is Cry Danger.
