The game looks and sounds amazing...Like what every FPS has been trying to be for the past few generations.

I hope they tweak the hell out of the perk of being in a squad and make lone wolf players very ineffective and vulnerable (more realistic).

One thing I REALLY would like to see is a system for snipers where having a two man team would increase your lethality by x4 or x5 (and splitting points evenly between spotters and shooters). For example, a spotter class could carry a monocular and mark a target, and a target marked by your spotter would be a much easier kill type of thing. Non-market targets would be much harder to kill. The points would be split evenly between the spotter and shooter and a marked target could be worth X4 XP so it is double points for both.

Maybe increase the ability to hide if two people are together...

I dunno... it seems most games have sniper classes super lame and unrealistic. A game this big could do it right.

Doubt it would happen, but it would be an awesome addition.
I do enjoy my fair share of using a sniper rifle when I play FPS. I think that would be a lot of fun. It would help be more realistic and bring more stragety to the game.

Now that I've learned a bit about the mechanics and gameplay from a hands-on perspective, I'm really pumped for this game.

I really hope Sony markets the crap out of this game in a clear and concise way, because it truly could be a system seller. If what Joystiq said from their hands on experience is true, and this is on par or bests Modern Warfare, then it will warrant the purchase of a PS3 for many hardcore FPS fans.

I really hope they give it a better name though before release. MAG doesn't sound serious or appealing at all to me, and I know what it is.

It's nice of Byrne to defer credit to his publishing, platform-holding paymasters. But there's plenty in MAG Sony can't take credit for. The superb tuning and tactile punch of the weapons; the expert finesse of the map design; the relentless pace of the battles; the perfectly-balanced tightrope-walk between order and chaos, between tactical primacy and player freedom. With alpha coming to a close, news of a public beta expected soon and release towards the end of the year, MAG looks fighting-fit already, and PS3 could soon have a multiplayer shooter that will be the envy of all.

I am just piggybacking on the idea of a bonus for playing as part of a squad...

No real penalty for being a lone sniper, just a huge advantage for bringing a spotter.

Either way, this game is going to continue the massive waste of time my life has become

i am more and more pumped about this game with every bit of new info that comes out about it, and like others said before, if this is done right, it could sell the system to a lot of people, i like the idea of 8 person squads with commanders and generals, and bonuses coming to the people that play with the group rather than go off on their own. i dont play a lot of FPS games, but i am really excited about this, i would love to play online with a bluray.com army!

MAG actually looks way better than I was anticipating. I don't really play FPS games, but I certainly didn't think it would look as good as CoD graphically. And yet it does.

It may have a similar level of environment detail but don't expect it to be 60fps with AA. Or 600p for that matter.

Like Sucker Punch, their website's had a facelift.

http://www.zipperint.com/

Little new content on there though.

update: 720p MP4 trailer.

update2: MAG Live Chat on PS.Blog TODAY (nobody posted this?!)

We know you’ve got questions about MAG.

When we asked you what you wanted to know about a rather large list of our upcoming, exclusive games, questions for developer Zipper Interactive far outweighed the rest. That’s why the following Q&A video lasts a whopping 12 minutes (!)

But know that I had to have a light hand on the editor; any shots cut are readers’ queries going unanswered - and where’s the fun in that? First up, Zipper VP Michael Gutmann gives us the overview, before Lead Designer Andy Beaudoin breaks down the gameplay in detail.

OK, even with all of those questions deftly addressed by Zipper, I’m wagering that you now have a few more things that you’d like to ask. That’s why the team will be joining us LIVE on the Blog this Wednesday at 2pm Pacific/5pm Eastern for a chat. Please join us!

My only concern is that they don't release it as buggy as Socom was when it came out. That turned a lot of people away and can destroy MAG's chances. Socom right now is great but was horrible when it first hit PS3.

SOCOM Confrontation: Slant Six Games
MAG: Zipper Interactive

SOCOM's launch performance is no more relevant to MAG than any other SCEA supported online game.

Live chat is on now: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/...r-interactive/
