I didn't like the show, some moment here and there, but not the whole show.
Using the sitcom why not, but aSitcom with fake laughs works because it's funny. This show isn't funny, it's about Wanda facing her emotions following the death of vision (and Pietro). I see no humor in what's happening on screen, even if the scenes are shown that way, the dinner with the boss and wife, the magic show ... nothing really funny.
So it killed my enthusiasm after 2 or 3 episodes of non funny sitcom. Darcy was more fun than the whole "fake sitcom Wandavision" show.
So then the SWORD is introduced, as being as old as the SHIELD but noone mentioned it before? or heard of it? I mean the viewers/readers that know much more than the characters ... And now there's this "bad" SWORD agent that has a hidden purpose ...
And that's where Disney destroys the comics verse. Their villains are not subtle, maybe to have kids understand easily who's the bad guy?
Also very bad move half answering some questions and putting a lot of new questions. This feels like a JJ Abrams movie/series.
The last 2 episodes aren't that bad as at least things happen and the fake laughs aren't there.
Sad it spoils Elisabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany acting fake as in the sitcoms.

You must have misunderstood something during your viewing. It's explained that Monica's mother, Maria, was instrumental in the creation of SWORD as a result of her experiences in the Captain Marvel film. As it took place in 1995, SWORD would have been created in the years following. Conversely, SHIELDS' origins are in the 1940s.

thanks, I didn't really see what date it would have been created so it's over 25 years ; thing is we had dozens of Marvel movies with Nick Fury and Maria Hill and SWORD never came up. It's one of the main reasons I stopped reading comics : they set up characters, organisations and chronology, and a new writer comes and changes lots of things.

I didn’t think the sitcom episodes were actually funny, but I don’t think that was the primary purpose of those episodes. The early ones in particular did convey that feeling of the typical wholesome all-American way of life that sitcoms of the time were all about. As deluded as those shows were, they were fun, and were a distraction you could escape to for half an hour or so in order to forget about the harsher realities of life. That fits in perfectly with the theme of the show.

If it is not important or relevant to the plot when and why would they mention sword. According to what we know SWORD was a space based Observation department. It was during the 5 year gap that they changed to a Divison.

Yet we as the audience know that SWORD was the property of Fox, so they could not use them.

Selvig does mention them in a deleted scene from Thor.

Now let's do another simulation of the Foster Theory. And this time, we're using the S.H.I.E.L.D astrophysical records. And we cross-reference them with the S.W.O.R.D. database.

SWORD was originally with Fox.

With AoS canon being...well whatever the hell it is, is Shield even around anymore?

It's not canon. There are too many contradictions. Plus, Agents of SHIELD wasn't even produced by Marvel Studios.

Agents of Shield can be approached the same as Disney’s Star Wars sequel trilogy. They borrow influence/characters from the main source and are supplemental in not heavily affecting their original stories.

You can watch all the MCU movies without seeing AoS and miss nothing of importance. Same as how you can watch the MCU movies alongside AoS and gain an enhancement of the series.

You can watch Episodes I-VI of Star Wars and conclude the series missing nothing of importance with the inclusion of VII-IX. Or continue to story watching the ST and gaining an extension of the franchise.

By that logic, Fox-Men are canon.

Except that the ST does exist in the canon.

AoS was made with canon in mind, but they decided to kinda get away from that at some point.

The concept of both is, but not necessarily the execution.

I don't think the Marvel shows (pre Disney+ era) were ever canon. You should read up on Kevin Feige's thoughts on those shows. He either says he hasn't seen them, is not involved in making them (though admits Agent Carter is the closest), and avoids talking about them. Especially when he was asked about the Inhuman show. Kevin Feige basically said to the interviewer, sorry I can't hear you (jokingly of course), then he walks away.

I feel like they tried (with the tie ins for certain movies and stuff), and it just wasn't going to work. But I consider it kind of like a "side canon", where it's not officially, but it wouldn't take much work to make it canon.

I think the movies are canon for these shows, but the shows aren't canon for the movies. In some shows they do reference events from the movies, but the movies never referenced the shows.
I'm glad it's like that personally since I have neither the time nor the desire to watch most of them. I liked season 1 of Jessica Jones, but that's it.

The Disney Plus shows won't have that many episodes so they won't be time consuming I guess.

Think the Disney+ shows are about 5-6 hours each so you're at least 2 or 2 1/2 movies.

I don't think Kevin Feige ever liked that idea. But he wasn't going to screw over the other companies by saying we have nothing to do with them, they are not canon.
