Inconsistency will be excusable if they just release a four-movie set to replace those Funimation copies. Preferably one that looked nice next to their NGE set. Of course, that depends on if they can get the first three films too.

I did not enjoy the tonal shift. The only part of the Netflix dub I liked was Shinji, having him sound softer adds a different dimension to the character. I will be really frustrated if they decide to change the dub cast on the rebuilds.
It'll be very interesting to see what happens with the dub. If Netflix doesn't get the rights to the Rebuild films then will the original cast return? Or will they be forced to use the Netflix cast?

I know Khara was involved in the Netflix dub, but that’s probably only because they need to be involved in every new translation. It’s possible that it was Netflix’s decision to redub, especially since it was recorded at their regular dubbing studio, VSI. I have no source for that; it’s always just been my impression. Plus, the Italian Blu-ray might only include the older dub, and not the Netflix dub because Dynit can’t afford their price to license it. Even if it was Khara that wanted a redub, I doubt they’d require the new Rebuild movie to use that cast. Their supervised and approved redub of 3.0 was with FUNimation’s cast.

At this point, and I know this sounds like heresy, I've been getting more Evangelion enjoyment when it's done by fans. Whether it's from Mega64's Sweded videos, Re-Take doujins, those Tenacious D mashups, I get no frustration out of them. However Thrice Upon a Time will be handled internationally, I'd be surprised if it's handled without any controversy.

Depending on how satisfied Khara is with the release of NGE, I'd wager that GKIDS is most likely to pick up the rights to the 3.0+1.0, and if that happens, we'll probably get re-releases of the other Rebuilds from GKIDS soon enough, maybe even a box set? So I wouldn't worry about consistency at least.

And as I can't recall ever knowingly watching a GKIDS release, I can't speak to the readability of their subs, but you never know. Perhaps they've learned their lesson, or Khara will micromanage the release to avoid that issue?

As for myself, I hope we get at least get a limited theatrical release internationally, the way we did for Shin Godzilla, to tide us over until we get a blu-ray.
Your Name. was a FUNimation release and it's spiritual sequel Weathering With You still had the same voice cast for returning cameo characters even though it's a GKIDS release.
That said, Your Name. was dubbed by NYAV under contract from Anime Ltd. in the UK since they nabbed the rights before FUNimation, and FUNimation just released Anime Ltd.'s dub rather than make their own since there are no rights issues nor are there any British accents in the dub.

If GKIDS gets the entire FUNimation Rebuild cast back for 3.0+1.0, that would be the best solution even if it's with NYAV this time around, that or just make it a collaboration with FUNimation like what Shout! Factory did with In This Corner of the World and Aniplex with Demon Slayer.
GKIDS should release Blu-ray re-releases for the first three films (IMAX 3.333 for the third film) along with a Blu-ray for 3.0+1.0 and 4K UHDs for all four films or at least 3.333 and 3.0+1.0. Hopefully, one with both theatrical and home video dubs for 3.333.
The earlier versions would also be nice but unlike alternate cuts for films like Blade Runner or revisionist Special Editions like Star Wars, the tweaked recuts of the Rebuild films have always upgraded the animation from each previous version. 1.01 looks like crap compared to the Blu-ray version, even without taking the resolution into consideration.

3.0+1.0 will most likely be in 2K as well but 4K upscales with HDR will be great, even for the first two films which were in 720p.
Thanks for sharing that data, I didn't know, but yes a 4k upscale using HDR would be pretty great in my opinion.

I would love a box set from GKids, and a theatrical showing like we had with Shin Godzilla (so long as it stays in Japanese).

I would love to rebuy 1.11, 2.22 and 3.333 so that I have consistency in the collection.

Doesn't come close to Cruel Angel's Thesis and Beautiful World, though

Maybe I've just used to Beautiful World, but I absolutely prefer One Last Kiss. Glad that it's finally out. Can't wait to import the 3.0+1.0 soundtrack!

It's perfectly fine but not on the level of other Evangelion songs in my opinion.

Have we had any news or estimation on when this will come out? Or any potential music licensing issue?

[glances at audience reception of the film upon release day]

Who else is not surprised by this? Not the content of the film, but the reactions.

What are the reactions?

Is there a spoiler list out there?

From what little I glanced at, people were quite angry. To put it mildly.

I didn't want to look into spoilers, because I want to keep myself fresh, but I'm kinda prepared for anything Anno would be throwing.

I’ve seen plenty of positive reactions however.

Evangelion has always been polarizing. You’ll either love it or hate it.

I preached that same philosophy for months when this movie had its trailer released. So coming across the negative side of the film's perception fits in line, but thanks for sharing it has its supporters as well.

*listens to Utada's version of Fly Me to the Moon*

Quite a lengthy prologue.
