With the resources available, the lack of 4K NFL games is an abomination.

It sure is. Even though the previous 4K branded games were only HDR'd upsamples, they looked great to me and I'd love to see much more of them.

Mini rant: I don't get what the networks and TV manufacturers don't get...the NFL sells and if you offer a better looking product, it will drive people to your networks and drive 4K TV sales. Granted, I totally get that it's a lot more labor-intensive and a bit more expensive to produce, but come on, it's the biggest American sport by far.

Would think that, at the very least, 4K streaming options from Amazon and Paramount+ (I believe they'll be streaming CBS games?) should be doable.

I am not sure what to think about the Watson story but wondering how it may affect how attached HOU is to him now. If they are wary and a potential trade partner is not, that trader partner can probably get him at a lighter cost than before this news, and then hope his legal issues get resolved.

Assuming the rumors that Houston's front office is somehow behind this are true, the thinking would seem to be that these stories make other teams hesitant to trade for a player who might have to sit out a large portion (or an entire) season due to NFL Personal Conduct violations. Notice that these are civil suits, not criminal, so there's no threat of actual jail time because that's not what anyone with a vested interest in Watson would actually want. Watson was already willing to sit indefinitely if he stayed in Houston, so if such a suspension were to come down, it's no skin off Houston's nose. They get to keep their player and (in their eyes) teach him a lesson.

Not entirely so. It's one thing to film on higher resolutions, but it's a completely different (and pricier) animal to produce live 4K sports content.

I'm hoping now that Amazon is full boat in control of Thursdays broadcast after this season, that they put in the effort to bring the best possible format that they can. That means to me a 4k broadcast and as Rage said a real one, not the fake upscaled crap Fox tries to pass off as 4k hdr.

Even better are the 8k cams they used at times, they need more of that and don't understand why it is been so slowly adopted. Do the cameras run off the souls of unicorns or something? I mean why the heck since they obviously have the capability and equipment, that they then only choose to use it in short little tiny burst.

I feel ya, Bigdog. Honestly, while it wasn't a true 4K, I really did enjoy watching the upscaled/HDR'd broadcast, it just seemed a lot more detailed, crisper to my eyes and popped a bit more.

I mean, I kinda see it from their standpoint...outfitting their entire arsenal of cameras and all the underlying infrastructure and back end systems to 4K is surely pricey, BUT isn't that what broadcasting network TV is all about?!

I posted a really good article in here a while back when the HDR broadcast first began, I'll try to dig it up and re-post.

EDIT: Here it is - https://www.theverge.com/2019/9/26/2...ball-streaming

It's for sure worth the read.

I was pleased with the move. Matt Barkley is a great dude, but QB2 was definitely an upgradable spot on our roster. Hopefully Trubisky uses this as a way to reset his image and can get another crack at a starting gig in ‘22. Being coached by Daboll and Dorsey should be good for him. He’ll have an opportunity to learn a lot being in a room with a QB like Josh Allen too.

Deshaun Watson now has 12 civil lawsuits filed against him. Lawyer says 10 more coming.

Something just seems off about the whole thing, but they have to follow through.

Dude clearly likes his massages. Isn't it always the 'good guys' who are secretly the pervs?

The Dolphins have waived OT Isaiah Wilson a mere days after getting him in a trade from the Titans. I wonder if those four snaps he played last year will be the only four he ever plays in the NFL, at the rate he's going.

"Wilson was hours late for his physical and team onboarding process, skipped multiple optional workouts that he agreed to attend on Thursday and Friday and declined support service help that he was offered, all in his first official week with the team, sources said."

I hope he’s able to get the help he needs.

nice signing by Giants

Quote:
Giants signed WR Kenny Golladay, formerly of the Lions, to a four-year, $72 million contract.

Golladay survived 24 hours worth of Joe Judge's wind sprints during his visit with the Giants before getting the long-term contract and guaranteed money ($40 million) he was aiming for. The 27-year-old is a legit No. 1 receiver, something New York has lacked since trading away Odell Beckham. There's now no excuses for Daniel Jones in 2021, as his skill group includes Golladay, Saquon Barkley, Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, Evan Engram, and Kyle Rudolph. As for Golladay's fantasy value, this signing hurts. There are mouths to feed, and Jones is 37th out of 41 qualifiers in passing EPA per dropback since entering the league. Consider Golladay more of a WR2/3 than WR1/2.

I’m shocked my Hawks were able to re-sign Chris Carson. I was sure he was going to sign elsewhere.

Being hurt 2 of his 4 seasons probably didn't help his asking price.
