the problem is that the planet that skynet takes over is mainly a battle station created to fight any possible alien attacks so skynet has control of 80% of the weapons systems now and the rest of our stations including earth are in danger so Luke....uh, I mean the great great great grand child of John Connor has to find a way to infiltrate the planet and destroy it from within.
Get started man.

I saw this concept on the Coming Soon.net talkback:

Quote:
This could be interesting because if u think about it, he would be going into the past, dealing with judgement day again, and actually rising up out of the ashes as the leader of the resistance. Then it could lead to the future that we have been acustomed to in the first three movies.
Actually makes sense, since Connor's just another soldier in T4. The whole Robert Patrick developing the T-1000's sounds cool. In the 2nd (5th), Connor could send back Kyle Reese in the mean time, then in the 3rd (6th), he could send back the T-800 to fight the newly developed T-1000.

Of course if this "plot" McG said happens, it's going to retcon the entire cannon of the franchise, since only flesh can go back in time, not motorcycle Terminators

Connor could always travel to 1885 and help marty and doc travel back to 1985 to help warn Sarah that she did not stop the future and the ten they could take the one year old john into the past to protect him from the future or something like that.

The time-line is being meddled with. I guess Sarah Connor managed to delay things.

Obviously, it has theological parallels (Judgement Day) and you left to wonder whether this is the biblical armaggedon, and whether that has and is being similarly delayed.

I believe T3 took place in 2004. So I guess McG is going to pretend T3 didn't happen?

i'll just repost my op from the thread i started on this (didn't see Sussudio's)

...

....seriously??
I don't like that at all
I am looking forward to Salvation ALOT but this better not be the final idea for the next film
It goes against Terminator's time travel laws, even though he tries to explain why they can do it, i dont think its a good idea.

we finally are getting to the war for human survival and we are going to go back in time again to try and stop the movie that just happened and now that they've gone back that future doesn't even exist in the same state anymore

I think the new trilogy needs to focus on the war in the war time period, not the past again. Maybe jump to like 2023 or so for the setting in the next film and then to 2029 when the humans send back reese and the original terminator is sent back or 20-whatever when the humans finally win the war.

You forgot the spaceships and the fact that John would have 'the force'

There will have to be a scene where John gets scarred and has to wear a mask and they chase the robots to a secluded location, and John gets on the mic and says 'just walk away... all we want are the terminators, just walk away'
