From what I can see in the caps the compression is on par with the Arrow here. Did not expect that from Criterion, but was expecting an artifact soup regardless of bitrate. Now if only every future disc looked as well encoded...

I can't say I'm surprised because I believe Arrow's is an Engine House encode (I don't have the booklet for my release) and Engine House encodes are pretty meh most of the time.

Arrow's is an encode by Premier, and they are not that good (Engine House, which is Arrow's in house encoding team do most of their current releases except the big ones for which they still use David M/FiM).

I saw the Arrow disc recently, and about 10% of it seemed noticeably spotty compression wise on a calibrated 75" 4k setup. I doubt the Criterion improves on that 10% so probably not going to double dip.
