Haven't seen this, but the guy has my sympathy. Hearing loss is something I'm experiencing as well after numerous loud concerts and noisy environments over the years despite not being a musician. And I guess I've always been one of those people who likes social environments and so I've spent an insane amount of time in loud arcades, pool halls, clubs, etc, as well.

Best movie I saw last year. Outside of Riz Ahmed's nomination, I was surprised it was so overlooked by the Globes.

If anyone doesn't want to wait until 2022, the BFI recently released Mogul Mowgli, where Riz Ahmed plays a rapper.

Sound of Metal is with various distributors internationally, so I think it's highly likely other international Blu-ray releases of the film will come out before the Criterion.

Sony are releasing a UK Blu-ray on May 31st, although I expect it will be Region B locked.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Sound of Metal the first movie to win an Oscar for a Best Sound category without being mixed in object-based audio since Dunkirk?

The Australian disc is region-free, I'd assume UK is probably the same. Criterion will probably stuff their disc full of extras though, the Sony disc is just the film on a single-layer BD25.
