Found a working password for HBO Max and want to watch Godzilla Vs King Kong tomorrow.
Hope the UHD BD is released soon, I'm really looking forward to that.

Heads up folks - Illegal Streaming is now a felony in the USA -

https://techcrunch.com/2020/12/22/st...ill-streaming/

Also Phantasm is currently $5 on Blu! ordered.

Default AT&T lobbies against nationwide fiber

Story here. On box: Sad how rural America is still treated in the US. Most must not know where their food and raw products come from. Off box.

Redbox only seems to stock the DVD.

Not very promising.

Like Wendell, it was a Netflix disc rental for me. I will buy it at some point down the road for sure.

Not remotely surprising. It’s not about the people, it’s about the dollars.

Hey Brian, I assume you are in the US, if so, have you ever tried Netflix disc by mail? If not, click here for details, they still offer a free trial.

Over a six year period my average cost per title stands at $1.97, this for 2 at a time Blu-ray plan. Have been with them since 2006 except for a couple of years with Blockbuster disc by mail. Some titles are not available on BD but may be available on DVD.

My closest Redbox is 3.5 miles away so at 59¢ per mile (in 2018) = $4.13 + $2.00 disc rental totals $6.13 per disc.

Something but also , Vilya has a larger library of BD titles than Netflix has of streaming movie titles (< 3,800).

I have always said that Fiber is the Future, but you have to be realistic. Rural areas are sparsely populated, taking more equipment to deploy the Fiber. So this does not make it cost effective, and the ROI is not there. I thought there was a Provider offering your area FTTH? There was probably some upfront cost that your Community didn't like.

When I moved to my current home in July 2018, it had FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) and then plain old copper running from Cabinet to Home. I was getting 40 Mbps max. Mid 2020, I had FTTH. The provider offers 300 Mbps max.

Sadly I am moving home again to a flat nearby and the max speed I will be getting is 35-39 Mbps. The entire block of flats has been left high and dry by providers as the flats nearby got super fast fibre. This means I might have to get more physical over digital as the speed is not that great. There are many new builds in the UK that get just 1-2 Mbps and the residents have to fight tooth and nail to get basic broadband at good speed. Few friends of mine, were stuck with 2 Mbps speeds for 16 months. They were relying on mobile data entirely. One was almost ready to sell the property but the providers started doing their job just in time and now they are getting 40-50 Mbps.

Not like something on YouTube would garner that.

The Protecting Lawful Streaming Act (PLSA) makes it a felony offense for a person to “willfully, and for purposes of commercial advantage or private financial gain, offer or provide . . . a digital transmission service” that has the primary purpose of publicly performing (i.e., streaming) works without the copyright owner’s permission or a valid legal excuse. According to Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), the congressperson who spearheaded the PLSA, the new law is intended to “apply only to commercial, for-profit streaming piracy services” and not individual streamers or users.

The law had already criminalized certain acts of copyright infringement. However, only the unauthorized reproduction or distribution of certain works under specific circumstances was punishable as a felony-level offense. See 17 U.S.C. § 506(a)(1); see 18 U.S.C. §§ 2319(a)-(d). With the PLSA, illegal online streaming activities are now punishable in the same manner.

No, its called greed. This is all about large cash handouts to ISP's via tax payer dollars and AT&T not wanting to spend in order to qualify.

One can hope Starlink will be successful and work as planed. The $500 equipment cost will probably be a deterrent to many potential users.

For me, I live in the sticks here but we have Morris Broadband with fiber to a local node, coax from node to modem. My average is 260 Mbps down and 20 up. Morris has sold to Altice so our service future is an unknown at this time.

Can't say I like or dislike, “Nothing personal, strictly business.” Sometime back we doubled our money on Netflix stock so we are gradually doling back part of that profit. We get to see all new title releases that we are interested in for low cost at the best A/V quality.

I can see you being misquoted in the future for saying this; someone will assume that you are referring to their streaming service.

As JohnAV pointed out, this has nothing to do with family and friends sharing their passwords.

I have been watching a little Netflix lately. I watched three seasons of Cobra Kai. It looked quite good and it sounded decent. The show itself can be a bit soapy and patently silly, but I still enjoyed it for what it was.

I started watching Arrow, but after 5 episodes I am not hooked. The villains are all so one dimensional and cookie cutter similar thus far.

If you want to see a interesting show check out the Korean TV series sisyphus: the myth, English subtitles

Tells the story of a genius engineer named Han Tae-sul, who tries to uncover the truth behind his older brother's death, and a mysterious woman called Kang Seo-hae, who travels back in time to help him save the world from imminent danger.

I like how they do character development and constantly add to the story as it progresses and from both a current and future perspectives. It only has 12 episodes so far comes out weekly on Wed. Some of the action sequences were very good.

https://www.netflix.com/title/81397558

PS Arrow is boring for the most part.

I binged City on a Hill S1 via Showtime over the weekend and that's a stellar show! The first season is only in HD and 5.1, but now that season 2 started the episodes will be in 4K/Dolby Vision, which is great. Unfortunately, I will wait until the season is over before binge it. There's no way I can do the weekly thing with this series. If you're a fan of The Wire and Homicide you'll dig it. It's also produced by Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Kevin Bacon, and James Mangold. Many familiar folks from The Wire in front of the camera and behind it.

I have my Showtime subscription bundled with Paramount+ for $9.99 via Apple TV. That's a great deal for both and they are ad free.

Love Cobra Kai, silliness and all. It’s far better than I imagined it would be.
