I finally figured out how to get my LG CX OLED working in conjunction with my Sony X700. I'm a newbie to HDR tech and figuring out which movies are available on HDR10(+) or Dolby Vision and which to view on which movie. Most movies currently are included with both of the big 2 but there are some older 4k movies that only have HDR10. I have been making the "mistake" of viewing some of these movies in DV where it might be better to view them on HDR10.
For owners of the X700 you probably know that you can set the HDR settings option to "auto" to detect a movie with HDR10 but there is a separate option for Dolby Vision. If you have DV set to "on" then your 4k movie you are watching will default to that. So if Im watching a movie like Alien (1979) that is only available in HDR10 I would have to turn DV to "off" so that my HDR will properly work. My LG CX will automatically distinguish between the two. Anyway, getting this finally figured out (I think) has been an eye-opener to being able to enjoy my 4k movies and my new CX and to dial in the correct settings to getting the best (accurate) picture. If anybody has anything to add, don't hesitate. Since I'm new to 4k viewing and HDR any insight helps! |

not for ^ Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, but as longtime readers like Agent Kay may recall, nearly 2 years ago - to the day - the local PD was so informed so as to alert the local population - https://local.nixle.com/alert/7186022/
and the rest…..as they say, was history. |
