I have to say there was a bit of dialog that made me think the lossless audio will be much clearer but apart from that I was so THRILLED by the movie itself and the fact I was watching it that I didn't actually think about doing a critical review of it.

If you're me, you brain says "OMG this is bonkers great!" until the credits roll.

I developed hope for a quick home release when I noticed it's only on HBO Max for a month.

Alright, just finished watching it. Not as horrid as I was expecting it to be - Kong rocks and his personality came through from Skull Island here. The humans, as usual, were garbage. The fights were great.

Ok, so the Atmos sound quality is definitely at a lower volume, which is a shame.

Will I buy it n 4K disc? When it hits $9.99 or less I will, or used via a RedBox kiosk.

Finally watched two selections on the Hans Zimmer: Live in Prague Blu-ray, they were 6. Pirates Of The Caribbean Medley: Captain Jack Sparrow and 12. The Dark Knight Trilogy Medley: Why So Serious? The disc is much better in terms of dynamic range than the John Williams disc. The young lady playing the Yamaha Cello played with a lot of emotion.

A lot of the Dark Knight Trilogy had very low tones that contentiously shook our chairs and the room. There was a lot of light strobing so I had to turn on some lights to reduce the effect. The spouse covers her eyes in a strobed dance scene in Flashdance.

Highlight of Live In Prague is the prodigious bass which comes alive in second half. Puts the subs to test. Remember giving my dual SVS cylinders a nice work oit. My go to disc for music.

Not the fault of the format, the blame with any title with artifacts should be placed at the door of the folks doing the rendering and QC of that rendering. It means someone was asleep at the controls and/or encoder parameters not set correctly or using AI to do the encode and not doing a QC of said encode.

I just watched Stranger Things Season 1 Episode 3 and right after the episode my theater lights came on pink.

The lights can be controlled via the network but they haven't come on randomly before and if you are familiar with the episode it's extra strange because

[Show spoiler] it's the one where Will first communicates from the upside down with lights

It's possible my daughter turned them on to prank me but she's upstairs and I was in the basement and it happened right as the credits came up.

Not to worry. I've heard that the Upside Down is nice this time of year. It's very dark there making it a great place for projector owners.

Spirits are no problem; just be sure to put the bottle cap back on tightly. For demons, try saying "Beetlejuice" three times.

Bet he sounded great in Atmos; normally I would favor a "live" performance, but you can hardly call a visitation from a poltergeist a "live" anything.

If it happens again, just dip him in batter and deep fry him. It is the best way to serve...

Well, it's no wonder that your poltergeist was so teed off; scaring people awake, and then to death, was his job, not yours.

You have a very interesting memory with that experience; not many of us have a real ghost story to share. Makes me kinda jelly.

Witnessed a spoon fly out of a glass and hit the ceiling then a remote control levitating and then flying across the room with incredible velocity. Didn’t want me or my nephew in there at all. We obliged.

It makes you see things from a different perspective.

For a good restoration it can cost from $100,000 to $500,000 very easily and probably even more. You guys can do the math, but just to Break Even they would have to sell a few thousand Discs at $25 per Disc. No Stamping them out or $9.99 Sale will cut it!

I think that the studios know their business better than you or this boobtuber does. The studios would not produce 4K discs if they lost money doing so; this should be a concept so easy to grasp that it should not even require mentioning, but yet you need to be reminded of it regularly. A "for profit" business, like movie studios, do not keep making products that lose them money.

Another little thing that ALWAYS escapes you is that these film restorations are also done for the studio's digital and pay TV distribution; they are not done ONLY for physical media distribution and thus physical media does not have to recoup those restoration costs all by itself. Film restoration is done to benefit ALL distribution methods.

Just be clear: you think that 4K streaming doesn't require any restoration?

Is this another one of those magical cases where digital has zero costs and physical is astronomically expensive?

Like I told you guys a long time ago.....It's all Digital! The Restoration is for both, one is put on a Server for Streaming the other a Disc. You're right no Studio will put money into a Restoration unless it will make a profit. The big Studios have a bigger budget, but the cost are the same. The cost for making DVD's and BD are less, and UHD cost more that's why the Studios are budgeting for this. So don't shoot the messenger....It's not Show Friends it's Show Business!
