I had lots of fun with this one! Only disappointment was not seeing any post-credit scenes.

And portions of Pensacola. But yeah, each of these films seems to up the ante in which major cities can dominate the "scorched earth" claim.

Saw this in IMAX this afternoon and had a great deal of fun from start to end.

What a freaking movie!! I'm not ready for theaters just yet, so I watched it alone in my recliner. I was literally screaming and cheering at parts. I'm glad it ended the way it did as well. Plenty to root for no matter who your "dog" in this fight is. Will definitely be watching again and I'm ordering whatever steelbook they come out with day 1

Thought the mechagodzilla part was pointless..like, why not have it unleashed onto an unsuspecting city/public before Godzilla and Kong come to the rescue? That was a letdown but the rest was really good. Thought they nailed the hollow earth stuff quite well too

Godzilla vs Kong was everything I could’ve asked for and then some. Definitely delivered on the monster mayhem and destruction one would expect from an epic showdown between the two Titans.

While the human character subplots were on the weaker side and the overall story outcome was massively predictable
[Show spoiler]I always knew it’d end in a team up once MechaG was announced to be featured,
and it could have used more Godzilla. In the end I found myself enjoying it still even with those lesser issues.

However, I will say that KOTM has the best cinematography out of the four.

So if one wanted a blu-ray set of every Godzilla film made (36, I believe) how would I make that happen?

Gave it a solid 3 stars - leave your brain at the door and just enjoy the movie for the monster mayhem it's intended to be.

Would it really have killed them to kept in another 7 minutes of footage to make this an even 2 hours? I mean honestly, they could have at least given us SOMETHING more with Kyle Chandler and his involvement in the proceedings. The dude was basically the main protagonist of KOTM and they cut him down to a mere cameo here. We know he’s shot lots more footage for this and they hacked it all out for the sake of “time.” I hate when they assume that audiences are SO STUPID that if they give us an extra minute or two of footage we will fall asleep with boredom. Don’t bring back a main character from a previous movie and then chop his role to bits. As Madison’s father we are emotionally connected to them and they give us nothing but one or two quick phone call scenes.

Also really curious what Jessica Henwick’s role was. I know some people say there’s “too many humans” but for me in a big monster/disaster blockbuster the big ensemble cast is what makes it fun for me. Look at how big the cast was in Independence Day and I never hear anyone complaining about that.

ID4 was a global invasion film though, that one has to have a massive cast.

True but GvK was taking place across several continents and yet it feels oddly small. Not that that’s a bad thing, I just wish we had seen a little more impact from the ground level of the destruction they were causing. It’s just weird to me that they would want to cut Kyle Chandler’s role down so massively especially considering how involved Monarch should have been. But it felt like they were just sort of in the background. You could tell that scene with Madison and Mark at the Monarch relief center was cut down and jammed in between two scenes of her walking home from school and then being at home. It made no sense.

It almost feels like they intentionally pared it down to release a more fleshed out cut later to get people to buy it twice on home media.

Where do these companies get their funding?

They kind of missed an opening to mention the drifting tech from Pacific Rim.

Pacific Rim is a giant piece of dog feces and I hope it remains separate from this franchise.

I would love that, except Adam Wingard stated flat out in an interview there would be no directors cut and this is the only version of the movie.

Watched this last night. It's everything you want this movie to be. Epic destruction and epic DV. The PQ and HDR is of monstrous proportions. The movie is a little quiet. Not like Nolan unintelligible, mind you. But after I bumped the volume up a few notches it was better. Fun movie. I so wanted it to end with...
[Show spoiler]

Godzilla and Kong doing the predator handshake.
