Highly recommended for viewers who like narratives that are not plot driven, but focus on contemplative and careful observation of different characters and perspectives, places and relationships to slowly build the feeling of a rich and connected canvas. Felt incredibly close, human, real and touching. Some absolutely stunningly beautiful imagery and long takes that help build the metaphors for a film that flows like life itself.

IIRC, the title is derived from a famous painting that also features in the film. The film works quite a bit like losing yourself in a captivating mural (or scroll, in this case).

Preorders as in MP, or somewhere else?

Probably referring to MP. I think these are on buyoyo eventually, which is easier than MP.

My experience has been the opposite- MP has been fairly straightforward and extremely reliable, while buyoyo's less reliable and difficult to follow up when issues arise. Just my 2cents.

Agreed that Buyoyo is difficult to follow-up with, but they are (mostly) reliable and cheaper. And I got banned from MP for talking negatively about them on here, so...

Yeah, I think this is going to be the first one I buy from Buyoyo. Sounds like, while not perfect, their shipping has improved in the last couple of years, on top of being significantly cheaper. I don't begrudge the MP people for wanting to make a few bucks. Still, between the speed (or lack thereof) and the significant markup, I think it's time to just go straight to the source, as it were.

That's essentially what I said on here, albeit a bit more strongly worded, and it was enough for them to cut ties with me.

I never imported a Chinese release. Could anyone give me a link where I can preorder this one? I googled Buyoyo and searched on their site for this release but couldn´t find it.

It's not on there yet. It will be later I suspect.

For example, I think this is from the same series: https://www.buyoyo.com/buyoyo/eng/Pr...31308&prtype=0

I get the feeling I'll never do group buy with them. I just signed up and it's too convoluted of a process. I only want to get the Asian movies that are unobtainable but seems if Buyoyo have them I don't need to bother.

I think its worth noting that these Diskino releases are limited run, and fairly small amounts I think- that release you linked is sold out after being listed only last July, and will probably not be restocked.

I think somebody at MP has a contact at Diskino, and when you sign up with them you can be fairly sure you're getting one. If you are really set on not missing out (like I am), there's something to be said for that certainty.

Yes, it was sold out only a few weeks ago. I got one just before that. So it was in stock for about seven months if you say it was released last July. The one after that from the same series is still available: https://www.buyoyo.com/buyoyo/eng/Pr...33323&prtype=0

I don’t think you have anything to worry about in terms of missing out if you don’t do the group buy.

Worst case scenario, there are places like Taobao it can be purchased from.

I'm game.

But what does Disc Kino Exclusive realistically mean for NA customers? Will it be available through Amazon and such?

It just means they'll be the only people putting out that particular edition. Your most realistic chances for buying the release are a Media Psychos group buy (slow, overly expensive, weird setup process), Chinese sites that ship to the US (Taobao and Buyoyo - cheaper and quicker but shipping has occasionally been shoddy, especially with Buyoyo, I think), and eBay (total gamble regarding price, shipping, etc.).

Damn it; that sounds like too much trouble (for me, that is).

Thank you very much for the information!
