They really could cut down on the subplots though. They also have an issue with just dropping things set up in previous movies.

Like the reveal with Hiddleston in Skull Island.
As well as Charles Dance in King of the Monsters.

Tightening up the plot, gives people more of reason to revisit a movie besides the CGI.
Not really sure what subplots you are referring to. Anything from Skull Island other than Kong was 70 years ago so not sure what we can use from that. Charles Dance sold the
[Show spoiler]Ghidorah skull
to Apex. That was the only tie in really needed there.

It'd essentially turn a giant tentpole action movie into an experimental film with no dialogue. You'd need to hire a writer and director strong enough to tell a story purely cinematically.

It will never happen, but I can see it working in my head.

Mostly because it is this forum. I take 99% of the stuff posted here with a very large pinch of salt.

I want a movie that completely takes place during the cybertron scenes in Bumblebee.

The poll looks pretty good only 20 votes in the 2 star and 1 star section.

The movie is above average, but it is held together by CGI creatures.

Those cgi creatures are not on screen enough, while we watch humans goof around for the 4th time.

That's kind of where I am.

It was okay. I was under the impression from reviews that the humans were almost a non-factor and a small part of the film, but they're dominate at least half of it. If the writer and director don't care about Alexander Skarsgard's inability to be taken seriously as a scientist because of his Hollow Earth theory, why should I?

Right, the movie just has some parts of the plot that do not line up.

Why is Kong in an artificial environment on Skull Island. Why would they spend money on something like that?

The budgets of these two companies has to be astronomical. Where do they get this kind of funding? They just have stuff on demand.

In a movie about a giant Ape vs a giant Lizard I must say who cares about the money.

The technology seems to be saying that the film is supposed to be silly, and I think it works best when it is silly, not taking itself seriously.

But being a big budget production aimed at, mostly, young men, it has this sense of ponderous seriousness running through it that I find tedious. It's kind of at war with itself about its tone.

Sometimes a lizard and a crab are just a lizard and a crab.

If anything, it reminded me of something from Peter Jackson's Kong movie.

Thought I'd just share this. These guys are great. Pete, who runs Sea of Tranquility, is a big time monster movie and prog rock/metal fan. They're not professional critics, just fans, so if it's not your thing, you can just disregard. If you dig the discussion, check out more of their stuff.

And here's another point of view from another youtuber I often watch.

That was a fun ride. Better than either Godzilla movie, sits comfortably with Skull Island quality wise. Insane audio mix, best I've heard in a theater in years.

Bam you nailed it. I 100% agree. I enjoyed this movie A LOT. The people were kinda meh but SO much less annoying than most of the cast in kotm.

Trailers:

Space Jam (theatrical exclusive until tomorrow it seems)
F9 (shortened recycled old trailer)
Quiet Place Part 2 (recycled old trailer)
Voyagers (??)
In the Heights
The Suicide Squad (superior green band version)

I like that the end of the credits
[Show spoiler]credited Lethal Weapon 2, with Kong's shoulder smash.

Am I the only one who didn't like Cranston's character in Godzilla?

I didn't like his son either, but that's me.

How does this family have the exact skills needed for the plot at the very moment they needed to?
