The cost for making DVD's and BD are less, and UHD cost more that's why the Studios are budgeting for this. So don't shoot the messenger....It's not Show Friends it's Show Business!
the costs depend on what someone wishes to pay, many years ago I decided to buy a DVD of a show I liked when I was a kid for one of my nieces or nephews. Obviously the studio that released this on DVD paid 0$ and did no restoration what so ever and they used a very degraded film master for the disks. It was truly disappointing.

as for "It's all Digital!" yes it is, but it means nothing. VHS/LD/Beta/film where not digital but restoration was still needed for the presentation to look its best. DVD and UHD BD are both digital but but the presentaion from each of those will not be anywhere near the same? Any one can be a millionaire all it takes is a few cents US converted to the Venezuelan Bolívares. It s always the details that are important and that is what you are missing and making the false equivalence that it is all digital to pretend there is no difference.

Is it even worth watching movies (whatever the technology)?

I don't get your point. why would some artificially written scripts mean that all other films are not worth watching further more let's play devil's advocate and assume that a good film script is artificially written. If it is good why wouldn't it be worth watching?

Great! because Quick Change (1990) just dropped to $17.99

Actually, I want this one around $7 to $10.

Oh nevermind .... ordered.

There's a great sale going on at the Arrow Video site - "Easter Carnage" sale.

I ordered 10 titles and my total even with the shipping and no VAT taxes to the U.S. averaged about about $12.99 per title.

9 of them were BD's and 1 was 4K UHD:

Dressed to Kill
Obsession
Carrie
The Fury
Raising Cain
Videodrome
Time Bandits
Limits of Control
Crimson Peak
King of New York UHD

Watched 3 more titles yesterday from my WAC haul:

Night Moves
Leatherface: TCM3
Dark Passage

Dark Passage looks and sounds phenomenal. It's my favorite of the Bogart/Bacall films that they did together. It feels like a Brian De Palma film, with the early POV cinematography shots.

Started watching and realized the 3-D version was anaglyph only (red & blue glasses), no frame pack so we could not use our active shutter glasses. Need some anaglyph glasses that can be used with our regular glasses. Recommendations? Anyone use these?

I have Dark Passage but haven't watched it yet. I'm slowly working my way through my Noir collection. The Big Sleep is my favorite Bogart picture after Casablanca but based on your statement I need to move that one up my watch list.

Silly goose,

Clone Wars Series is already available on Blu Ray.

I actually found the "movie" version on Blu Ray at the dump (in the recycling section) and I never watched it but having seen a few episodes of the show I may go see what that is... I'm a little confused why it's both and show and a movie and they look a bit similar.

But Mandalorian is on disc on EBay as a digital rip I assume

Yeah, but they are banking on making more money with it pulling people in. I can’t see it happening any time soon. I am with Lee on this one.

It really doesn't matter. My daughter wanted the service for WandaVision now she likes winter solder. Most people will either rotate steaming services (hulu on month, disney another) or get with others to share them which makes it cheap enough that it doesn't make a big dent in the expenses. Splitting $8 with 5 people means it's cheap enough to just have it to find out what's interesting and what's not.

I would buy these shows on disc if they released them even if I have the active service so they are leaving money on the table and losing it to the counterfeits.

I pay for Amazon Prime and Disney+ for now but I have friends access to Hulu (with live TV), Netflix and HBO Max so it's not a big deal to pay full MSRP for D+ currently. I still collect movies which is my way to go.

I hate Netflix but I realize having it for free isn't bad ... I actually kind of like that. Got through 3 episodes of Cobra Kai and I'm interested in Queens Gambit.

One thing is for sure, it devalues the content significantly so hopefully content creators realize this. I watched Godzilla Vs Kong for free on release day which was great. Back in the days of Cable and PPV there was usually a window so that new stuff wasn't on there unless it was not market-able or if it was a sporting event/concert.
