Spot on. If they make more monsterverse films, I'm willing to bet that after people have feasted on the massive amount of films that are still to come after their delays, that a sequel to GvK will not be treated so kindly.

I absolutely agree with your comments on this movie in the UHD thread btw. I enjoyed this movie but there were so many ridiculous and dumb moments I'm surprised it got a free pass from most.

When I was a 'Vs.' movie all I care about are the fights. If the fights deliver then I will give the rest of the movie a pass. If the fights are boring then I am going to be more critical about the rest of the movie (plot, pacing, character development, etc).

That's why I hate the Transformers movies because the fights are incomprehensible and dull. The fights in GvK were excellent, clear, and well choreographed. So, for me, even though the plot of GvK makes no sense, and the characters were as dull as dishwater the movie gets a pass.

No question for me, the best movie of the franchise is Skull Island.

GvK came down to them pushing each other into buildings with a few punches here and there from Kong with Godzilla biting and using his breath attack.

Compared to the variety of the fights from Transformers, it's a no contest. Transformers has this film beat very easily when it comes to the choreography. The only reason GvK was clearer, was it was an ape vs a lizard like dinosaur vs a robot. It'd be pretty difficult to get those muddled up in a fight.

Each their own, but GvK has all the faults of Transformers and more in my opinion. I'm willing to bet by the end of the year, most people will be calling GvK "trash" once they have watched more new releases and got over the new film hype.

Transformers the heroes have colours and the enemies are mostly silver and when they fight I can't tell what the **** is going on.
Kong is clearly an ape and Godzilla is clearly a lizard. I'm not knocking your preference for Transformers. 'FOR ME', I can't tell what is happening in Transformers and I could with GvK.

However it came about, I do agree that I was able to 'see' more in these fights than other movies. It felt like I was watching Pacific Rim, both of which just blew me away. No quick cuts and just amazing visuals!

And for those uniqlo shirts - they make high quality shirts for cheap prices. I have several shirts from this brand and the material is very nice with cool designs.

I hated every minute of this when there wasn't a Kong/Godzilla fight happening. Every time a character started talking about "science" I though my eyes were going to roll right out of my GD head.

All i read about the 2014 movie is that it's too dark and you can't see what's going on.

I think GvK success is more due to timing and a dearth of other big movies.
KotM did bad because it was bad. Word of mouth, not hitting expectations (especially with that marketing push) killed the Box Office for it.

Didn't think I'd see someone saying Transformers was good in a thread like this. If we want to talk about nonsensical human characters, fights that don't make sense, and dumb ass plots, Transformers is the worst one in every category.
[Show spoiler] Kong dodging the atomic breath
itself is more creative and thrilling than any one fight in Transformers.

KotM was great, it's a better movie than GvK. I don't tend to subscribe to the whole "only good movies make money and bad movies lose money" way of thinking that you seem to. There are far too many instances of it being proven wrong.

GvK is doing so well because audiences (and critics apparently) are desperate for a new big budget mindless fx fest which is fine. This movie has so much stupid crap in it though and really suffers from being cut down hugely. It's a fun movie but probably the weakest in the franchise.

Got a question. In the movie, when they first saw the
[Show spoiler]MechaGodzilla, the black dude said "Robot Godzilla"! and the Mexican dude said "It's MechaGodzilla". How did he know what's it's called? Especially, if it's a secret project.

I imagine it was detailed in the original script before they hacked it down. There must be at least 30 minutes of stuff they cut.

Everything you say contradict with what happened with WW84. Its a Big blockbuster but was not recieved as well with critics. Just because you think its the worst in the franchise does not mean everyone think the same. This movie does well because people like These monsterverse movies and they want more of Godzilla, Kong, Mothra ect..

I think he corrected Bernie because he wasn't
[Show spoiler]a robot, and was controlled by someone inside
. Just semantics and I think he just has a nerd moment.

I mean, we're arguing about opinions. I can scream into the sky about how disappointing KotM was. It's the worst of all 4 movies, by far. RT thinks so, and it disappointed at the Box office. If audiences and critics were so desperate for a movie, why didn't W84, or Tenet, or SZJL do anything near this business or views? It's also weird saying how much fluff and calling it a FX fest, while also seeing praise for KotM and the Transformer movies.

This. I don't think the Transformers are good. They get trashed by critics, but they make money so I understand. I think the Godzilla/King movies are good. They do not get trashed by critics and they do good business. *shrug*

I'd say the demand was more for characters they knew, and action scenes that make sense/are coherent lol. Yes the timing helped, but if it was a movie that got terrible reviews, it wouldn't have the success it has now

What characters that the audience know are in GvK? The only ones carried across are from Kotm, the one that flopped. All the other characters are new.

The action sequences in kotm are very similar to Godzilla 2014 in terms of how they are shown and what we see, yet that movie did well.

I don't buy any of these reasons tbh.

Godzilla vs Kong has more broad appeal than Godzilla vs his ennemies (KotM).

Probably why this GvK got success, no matter if the movie was good or bad.

I was talking about Kong and Godzilla.

No one cared about any human characters lol (MBB has fans, and I do like Henry & Dennison personally, but I didn't care for their inclusion)

But to the general public, the average American movie watcher, they didn't know Mothra or Ghidorah, all they saw with KOTM trailers was a bunch of monsters in drama poses with fantastic music behind it. They didn't really get that with the movie.

And that was a criticism of Godzilla. The fact that the sequel doubled down on the criticism was a bad look.
