Most likely. I reckon this'll be based on the 4K-remaster they did for their BD release back in '19, which looked pretty damn good in 1080p already

Which is better than Capelight I guess, but one might want to be cautious anyway. I do consider Constantin's sole other catalogue 4K release so far (Perfume) to be "crap" (others didn't agree with my sentiment), but I'll give this a shot anyway despite having bought the BD already. The BD is decent and the best this ever looked at any rate, but still far from perfect.

DNR treatment has to be expected here, but as long as it's an improvement over the BD, I won't complain too much I guess. With "Unendliche Geschichte" I have to have the best version available and since I want the German cut, it's the best version there'll be anyway (as long as it's not worse than the BD that is ).


Offtopic, but as one can see in the first news link as well: They are also releasing the first 5 Resident Evils now.

But I'm a little bit afraid now, if the database is right and updated, they did only 3 4K releases.. and all on a BD-66. BD-100 for this would be gorgeous

If you're referring to bluray-disc.de, they are just listing best guesses all the time (and in this case basically copied the BD specs for now AFAICT). Having said that, BD-66 is a given IMHO and should be fine with that runtime anyway. I'd be more worried about how they treat the film/transfer.

Wonderful news! The 4K remastered blu from 1.5 years ago was/is an absolute revelation. Assuming that restoration is serving as the basis for this release then we're all in for quite a treat.

I still wish WB would work with Constantine on getting us both cuts of the movie on UHD here stateside, but I'll happily purchase this release even if the original german version is the only one included.

If WB could release the original uncut theatrical Hong Kong version of Drunken Master 2 on Blu-ray in the States AND with a 4K remaster (unfortunately, without the US Miramax cut since that's with Paramount, which hasn't re-released it yet), then they should release both US and German cuts of The NeverEnding Story in 4K UHD. I just hope that they don't give it the Warner Archives Collection treatment like they did with Drunken Master 2 (since it was Blu-ray only despite a 4K restoration) or if they do a WAC release, give a 4K option just like with the IMAX remaster of Batman v. Superman.

Indeed. For the theatrical cut, I still prefer the Dutch Blu-ray edition:



Even though the audio is lossless on it, it still looks way better than the Warner Blu-rays.

Hopefully, Constantin at least upgrades the audio to lossless this time around for the UHD. I own the Mediabook released a couple of years back, and the transfer looks great...but the audio is only DTS HR. It sounds good of course, but could still be improved.
