Following sold-out performances during a run tragically cut short by the pandemic, worldwide cinema screenings, and a BBC broadcast, Conor McPherson’s wonderful Uncle Vanya adaptation is coming to Blu-ray this June.

Oh lovely, was intent on seeing this live before it sadly got cut short. Think it's still on BBC iPlayer too, for anyone that didn't know.

I live pretty close to the Harold Pinter Theatre - though I will always think of it as the Comedy Theatre, the name it bore for over 120 years until relatively recently - and was only walking past it on Panton Street late last Friday when I was surprised to see posters, the awning and front-of-house cast-boards all still advertising Uncle Vanya, with production pictures galore dotted around the place. If no conscious attempt has been made during 14 months of lockdown in London's theatres to remove it all - as many others have with their equivalents - perhaps there's some intention to revive it sooner rather than later. I'll find out more on Monday when the Royal Opera House reopens and the theatrical grapevine can get going again....
