The Blu-ray 3D came out in November of last year, and you still expect your copy purchased in June 2013 to include a slip cover? The whole point of a slip cover is for initial release, shelf appeal, etc.

I might have an extra that I could give to you, but I just think it's a bit much to expect a slip cover be included so far after release.

I got my copy from Amazon last week and it came with slip cover so I guess it's just... random. Since I can't really careless about slip covers, I wish the situation was switched between TravelSteveR and me.

Actually, I did expect it to have the slipcover since I asked the other day if others who had ordered theirs from Amazon since the price drop received their copies with the slipcover, and the replies were positive, but, seriously, giving a snarky reply to a post on a forum about 3D blu-rays? Is that really necessary?

Just bought this one today for $15 and I enjoyed it.

The 3D I thought was pretty strong with some cool pop outs. The animation was amazing, I loved the detail in the characters.

The voice acting was also strong and the sound field impressive.

Recommended.

Picked it up at Big Lots today for $5. Quick view and looks like almost 2D to me - very little depth and no pop-outs except for the end titles. Need to watch it all to see if it improves.

If I remember correctly it doesn't improve.

If you don't nod off, which I do a lot in this movie, you'll find a couple good pop-outs.
Found one brief full-range pop-out at 01:09:36

I have the Russian Laika box set.

I noticed when I pause it, the 3D shifts to 2D. Anyone has similar experience or is it just on Russian box set?

There are quite a few discs that do this, it's not unusual.

I bought most of my 3D Blu-ray's on eBay so I could get the 3D lenticular covers.

The 3D improves if you have a Blu-ray player or TV that allows adjustment of the 3D.

Thanks. So I take it all Paranorman has it. Is there a thread that compiles movies that does this? If not maybe we can create one.

My kid really likes this movie and I would buy another edition that does not have this issue if there is any.

Do you mean it switches to 2D and won’t switch back? What other people are talking about is discs that when you pause, it goes 2D for the still frame, then back to 3D on resume by design. Because that to me doesn’t sound like an issue.

No, it's very conservative, just as you'd expect from Laika.

I thought so. I distinctly remember weak 3D. I've pretty sold all my 3D movies with mild 3D (don't see the point of it) and I sold ParaNorman. The only Laika movie I have in 3D is Kubu (which has mild 3D) the reason being this was a superb movie and there is no 4K so this is the next best thing. The other Laika movies I have are in normal 1080p.

The 3-D in CORALINE is definitely not conservative, so I wouldn’t have expected that. KUBO’s 3-D isn’t as heavy as CORALINE but still pretty nice. Unfortunately, PARANORMAN’s 3-D is extremely disappointing in comparison.
