It's one of Bryan Fuller's contributions to the series, from back when he was still creator and showrunner -- he's long had a tradition of giving his female lead-characters male names, going back many years:

"We've worked on many shows with Bryan. It's a motif," fellow EP Aaron Harberts added on Tuesday at the Television Critics Association press tour. "It's his signature move to name his lead women with names that would typically be associated as male."

Wow that is a lot quicker then usual, isn't the normally 9-12 months between it being on streaming and it making it to Blu-ray?

Season 1 was released 9 months after the season ended and season 2 was 7 months later.
