Now stop buying discs and get a sub!!!

You tell me to stop buying discs and then in your very next post you list a bunch of new upcoming titles! Are you being on purpose? I haz to do my part to support physical media. Subwoofer sales are not in decline after all; I will always be able to get one.

You overlooked The Final Countdown 4K being released on May 25th; are you not a fan of that one? The Courier looks promising as I like the topic. I am not sure that I need Reptile Vs. Ape, but I may get it at some point. A Quiet Place 2 interests me the most and even more than the Indiana Jones set. His Dark Materials has tempted me since JohnAV first brought it to my attention.

Guilty as charged. I did miss Final Countdown and will add that to my list. I remember seeing it with my Dad and Brother in the theater when it came out but have not revisited it for some reason.

There are aspects of the CE industry which are hurting though due to a shortage of materials amongst other factors. I ordered a new center back in March and don’t have a date on it yet. I know the receiver market is still hurting at certain price points as well.

IIRC, you hoping for Willy Wonka 4K and it looks like you got your wish. This site (BD.com) list it as native 2160 so hope it looks good.

For those that may watch Army of the Dead, checkout this article. If the fault of the Red camera then not sure how it got past the DP. Could be a glitch caused by editing, SFX, grading, etc. but it should not have got past the final QC person.

Which is quite hilarious in its own right. They can ignore compression artefacts galore but not a tiny dot!

The camera lens used (Canon) are actually very old ones, typical Zac really. Style over substance every time for me.

Actually I like the Digital Bits, been reading almost everyday since it came online in the late 90's. For me, it is just another source of consumer info like/was The Lasers Edge, VSDA, Home Media Magazine, Media Play News, eTown, High-Def Digest, Blu-ray.com, The Big Picture, Hollywood in Hi-Def, Video Review, Sound & Vision and Widescreen Review + several others.

I watched this last night and there were a couple of scenes where a pixel was stuck on and at full brightness; it was very noticeable and quite distracting. Someone along the way should have caught these mistakes and corrected them. I am glad that I was aware of the issue beforehand or I might have thought that something was wrong with my TV.

Other than that, I enjoyed the show. It was a zombie movie, so I was expecting to leave my "brains!" (pun intended) at the door. I had a good time with it.

There is the possibility the source file provided to Netflix was OK but the file(s) created for IPTV were mucked up. It would appear Netflix does not QC their encodes and relies on their AI computers for QC.

Several months ago I checked several Netflix titles listed as having Atmos sound tracks some of them did not play with Atmos.

For my viewing last night, that tiny dot seemed as bright as a laser pointer. It was very annoying while it was happening.

It’s just a little show off! A bright dot amongst the dancing pixel disco that is streaming. The John Travolta of tiny pixels if you will.

I often wonder what kinda of individual with a big sparkly projection screen would be so offended by this minor photography mistake. How about that banding in the bright sky in one scene of "The Revenant", that's a heck lot more fleetingly obvious. It does make one wonder about some peoples priorities.

Box Office: ‘F9’ Speeds to Huge $162.4M Start Overseas - Hollywood Reporter 5/23/21

The latest Fast & Furious installment — which took in $135.6 million in China alone — hopes to ignite a global box office recovery as the summer season commences.

Quote:
Universal’s high-octane action pic F9 has started its engines at the box office with a huge $162.4 million from a handful eight foreign markets, including $135.6 million from China alone.

The latest installment in the Fast & Furious installment also debuted in South Korea, Russia, Hong Kong, Russia and the Middle East, all markets where moviegoing has rebounded from the COVID-19 crisis. F9‘s ticket sales were as strong as pre-pandemic times, and marked Universal’s best start in China behind the last Fast film. It is also the biggest showing in the pandemic-era for a Hollywood title.

“It shows us that audiences are willing to come back when the right movie is available,” says Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, Universal’s president of international distribution.

With this weekend’s showing, the high-octane franchise has now collected more than $6 billion in global ticket sales. The series has always been an international sensation — including in China — where F9 is the first Hollywood movie to open to north of $100 million since Avengers: Endgame more than two years ago.

The China campaign for F9 included custom content and activations in three key cities, Wenzhou, Wuhan and Chongqing, along with high-profile, out-of-home tactics and a large scale presence at The Strawberry Festival, the most influential music festival in China.

F9 opted for a staggered rollout across the globe to allow for theaters to regain their footing in other markets. It debuts in the U.S. — where cinemas continue to flip on the lights and grapple with capacity restrictions — on June 25.

Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Godzilla vs. Kong, now in is fifth weekend, has also done well, but faced more constraints. Also, the monster mashup debuted simultaneously on HBO Max, while F9 is getting an exclusive theatrical release. (In like for like markets, F9 doubled Godzilla’s opening.)

Imax contributed a mega-$14 million, which is the company’s second biggest May opening ever despite opening in far fewer markets than current record holder, Captain America: Civil War. It is Universal’s third biggest Imax international opening weekend ever behind Jurassic World and F8.

F9 is among numerous 2020 event pics that were delayed by the pandemic.

Directed by Justin Lin from a script he co-wrote with Daniel Casey, F9 is a sequel to the 2017 The Fate of the Furious. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Michael Rooker, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell and Charlize Theron star.

In North America, Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures’ Saw franchise entry Spiral led a subdued weekend, earning $4.6 million for a 10-day domestic total of $15.8 million and global total north of $22.5 million. The spinoff, inspired by an idea from star Chris Rock, has helped the series cross the $1 billion mark globally.

The domestic box office is expected to pick up in earnest over Memorial Day weekend with tentpoles Cruella and A Quiet Place Part II.

Weird. I've already watched the film 3 times (once in the theater and twice on Netflix) and have yet to notice it. Granted, I was not looking for it.

Agreed. We watched it over the weekend and I did not notice it either. We watched it on my older LG 4K. I wonder if I would have noticed it on my super bright Vizio.
