Default New iPhone specs leaked -- 600MHz CPU, 32GB, 3.2MP cam?

http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/12/n...2gb-3-2mp-cam/

Quote:
Take this for what it is -- a totally unverified rumor from a Chinese forum -- but a set of specs for a next-gen iPhone have leaked out along with this screenshot, and they're not entirely far-fetched. According to the alleged leak, iPhone model MB717LL 9 ("iPhone2,1" perhaps?) will have a 600MHz processor (up from the current 400MHz unit), 256MB of RAM (from the current 128MB), 32GB of storage, a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, as well as a digital compass and FM radio, all while retaining the same battery, basic shape, and screen size. Do we believe it? Well, if we were to conservatively guess at specs for a next-gen Apple phone that's pretty much what we'd come up with -- with the exception of FM -- so we're not shaking our heads too hard. Plus we've definitely seen evidence that a compass will figure into the equation, and there's endless whispers that the camera will see an upgrade. Still, only Steve and the gang know for sure, and we're (probably) not finding out till they're ready -- WWDC, are you here yet?
these specs are right on the money for those of you waiting for the new iphone imo

Is the FM really needed though? Wouldn't it just be better to stream music?

I'm suprised there's no Netflix streaming to the iPhone yet.

Those specs are - speculation at this point. The FM "radio" people are talking about seems to be a transmitter only if true. Again, who knows as there is nothing definitive out there yet.

I must say though I am kind of disappointed if those specs are in fact real. I was hoping for a much heftier phone. If they are real, I will be holding off on an upgrade. We will see in a few weeks hopefully what the true story is.

AT&T's network could not handle it. Nor could many of the other networks either. It's a big problem now and for the future. Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc etc. They have not kept up.

No need to be rude. My comment was not ended by an "!". Waiting 2 years to update a phone such as the iPhone is not a good thing. People will lose interest fast.

it wasn't a rude comment, sorry you read it as such

2 year contracts make you deal with it tho. i don't know too many people who pay full price to update their phones every year

Got my preorder in for N97. I'm also messing around with the SDK to make some widgets.

Unbranded/unlocked but will the NAM model will have AT&T 3G. I 've been thinking to stay on T-Mo, but right now my plan is probably going to be to sign up for a new iPhone plan and sell it for as much rapage as an iFanBoy will allow and pop that SIM in the n97.

It will work fine on T-Mo, but since their 3G is different in North America, I'd be stuck on EDGE (which was plan... $5.99 unlimited T-zones is far lower price to anything you can get on AT&T data). Wish I never cancelled my $2.99 plan back in 2006 on my P900.

I'd be totally down for an FM receiver in my iPhone. I would love to listen to local radio stations while riding cardio bike at the gym!

Pandora and iTunes are totally cool, and I use them a lot, but I would love to see FM on my iPhone. No doubt about it.

I own the Blackberry Bold. It's a great full qwerty phone. Does everything for me, well besides the "personal" things, but I'm sure in the future they'll come out with a phone for that

So the n97 should be destined for AT&T? Or it will work on there?

thought the N97 was GSM. So it be able to work for AT&T, Tmobile or any sim carded phones. AT&T is offering the E71 now. Which I think is 2nd best to the blackberry Bold.

It will be fully functional on AT&T and functional on T-Mobile GSM/EDGE (but not 3G).

Hmm.. might have to wait and see what Apple has in store. Even though I love my iPhone 3G. Decisions, decisions.
