Top Gun and Birth of a Nation is a pretty broad spectrum. Sounds like you’re a bit out of your depths with this one. I think near enough every film falls between those two polar opposites.

Both have heavy handled political themes into it.

That's all i'm going to say.

In this thread... For sure! It’s a present for DVR.

But in all honesty, I find it ok at best. To me it’s a confused mess, I find most of Tarantino films to be more about the superficial look than substance. Maybe I’m too old for his craft. Kill Bill was even worst...

I think you need to figure out when you have nothing to say, then don’t say anything.

Speaking of JFK. I think it would be one of the best movies of the 90’s if it had a different lead. I’ve never been a fan of Costner and I find him so dull in JFK. If it starred Kurt Russell maybe, it would be a home run for me!

I haven’t had a chance to see JFK yet, but I agree on Costner. I find Dances with Wolves a proper slog and honestly don’t know a film I really like him in.

I thought he was great in 3000 Miles to Graceland. For some reason it’s the one performance of his I really like.

Also, Hobbit were a huge step down, mediocre and LOTR is trash and the most overrated trilogy of all time (just my thoughts).
A step down from trash, is mediocre?

Costner is wonderful in Fandango (1985) as a frat boy afraid to grow up. I like him in his off-the-wall performances like Criminal, 3 Days to Kill and 3000 Miles to Graceland

As a director, Open Range is truly exceptional filmmaking. I like the aesthetics, score, and performances in Dances, but the script (certainly in the theatrical cut) is very hackneyed in points.

I'm going nuclear with Peter Jackson:

None of his post-Frighteners/Forgotten Silver features engage me in the least. He's another Robert Zemeckis (who fought with him during Frighteners!)-a brilliant start and a sad decline after making just too much money and not having enough people telling him to rethink poor decisions.

Is it because Kurt Russell is right there!

I don't like his films, so i agree with you.
