I never saw a big difference from Edge to 3g. I actually own both.
Plus you can't really tell when you web browse on the 3g iphone because the iphone carries full html anyways. So it is gonna be slow on a phone, regardless whether you have 3g or Edge.

N97 isn't out yet. Speed difference for 3G to AT&T depends on AT&T support. 3G has been... sporadic... in many areas but very good in others. In the good areas, there isn't really a contest... but T-Mobile is far more flexibile in their variety of data plans

I have the HTC G1, and absolutely love it!!! And now waiting patiently for the 1.5 ("cupcake") software update either this week or next.

Yeah I think G1 has pulled off the touchscreen with full qwerty keyboard concept quite well. I wish I had tmobile again so I can use the G1. Plus I don't care to unlock phones.

Default Could this be the hardware spec for Microsoft's Pink phone?

http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=2752

Quote:
While rumors about what is/isn’t part of the next Zunes and “Pink” phones swirl, I figured I’d add a few more tidbits that I’ve been hoarding.

First up: A list of what may or may not be the final specs for the Windows Mobile 7 Chassis 1. Chassis 1 seems to be the the heart of the rumored “Pink” Microsoft phone and possibly other Windows Mobile 7 phones made by Microsoft partners.

(As an aside, Microsoft references the existence of a chassis spec in this April job posting for a Program Management Architect in the Entertainment and Devices division.)

Some caveats about this list: Microsoft officials won’t talk publicly about Pink or Windows Mobile 7 (and only selectively about Windows Mobile 6.5) at this point. This information also is at least a few months old and may have changed a bit.

But this is what I’ve got from a trustworthy source who requested anonymity:

WM7 Chassis 1 Specification

Core requirements:
Processor: ARM v6+, L2 Cache, VFP, Open GL ES 2.0 graphics HW (QCOM 8k, Nvidia AP15/16* and TI 3430 all meet spec)
Memory: 256MB+ DRAM, 1G+ Flash (at least 512MB fast flash – 5MB/s unbuffered read @4K block size)
Display: WVGA (800×480) or FWVGA (854×480) 3.5” or greater diagonal
Touch: Multi-touch required
Battery: Sufficient to meet Days of Use LTK requirements.
Controls: Start, Back, Send and End are required (soft controls allowed as long as they are always present).

Peripherals:
Camera: 3MP+, flash optional, 2nd camera optional (VGA resolution sufficient)
GPS: aGPS required
Sensors required: Light Sensor, Compass (3 axis, 5 degrees, 100 Hz sample rate), Accelerometer (3 axis, 2mg resolution, 100 Hz sample rate)
USB: High speed required, 20 MB/s transfer rate.
BlueTooth: BT2.1 required, must run MSFT BT stack, CSR BlueCore6 or later recommended.
Wi-Fi: 802.11B/G required, must run MSFT Native Wi-Fi stack, Atheros 6002 or Broadcomm 4325 recommended.
Connectors: Micro USB and 3.5mm Audio required.

Options:
FM tuner: If tuner HW is present it will be detected and supported by the Media application.
Haptics
SD Card (Micro SD recommended)
DPAD, qwerty or 12/20 key keyboards all optional

* Nvidia AP 15/16 = “Tegra”

What stands out here? Anything on the spec list catch your eye?
btw she's usually pretty good with rumors. so i dunno if i'm buying it yet..but it certainly seems possible/probable

Idou is still concept. Omnia HD doesn't have AT&T 3G (and Samsung hasn't yet done that with any of their top tier phones yet IIRC).

so AT&T 3G network doesn't support this? i know carriers in the states never have top tier phones so it was going to be purchased unlocked anyways hoping it would work.

the omnia specs say
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100

idou says
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100

iphone 3g says
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100

i guess the 900 instead of 850 means us living the states are SOL.

Right. Some portions of AT&T 3G (NYC area, etc) are 850, but mostly 1900. That's why the Nokia N97 NAM model has HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 but the euro model is: HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100.

T-mobile went completely wacky with their own 1700 and 2100 freqs.

Both my brothers have one. They like it, but I think secretly, they don't. Especially since I own an iPhone 3G. I have played with the Storm and I don't like it. It's a business class phone mostly. I didn't want a business phone. I wanted something fun and sleek. I also hated the click screen. That is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. I felt like an idiot using it the first few times because I was pressing the letters on the touch keyboard but nothing was happening. I was informed to CLICK the screen for it to register. No thanks.

One of my buddies has one and loves it. He's a regular at crackberry.com or something like that.

One of my coworkers has one and doesn't seem overly fond of it.

QC seems to be the biggest problem. The buddy who likes it exchanged the first one cause it's screen would wobble or something like that.
